That makes sense except that there was no off/on sequence involved. The lights were on the entire time. It was the output that jumped back up then gradually dimmed back down.

Same happens with other not-so-smart flashlights (like SK-68, AAA 3-mode Mini aka Thorfire TS07)
Got mine last Friday. Pleasantly surprised it took 8 days from date of order.
Tint is 5000K and took a rainbow picture and shined the light on it. The blues, greens, yellows, & reds showed true.
Great little lights.

TK finds both the clip and the body stick well to magnets.
As long as you upgrade your shipping it’s fine. I lost two orders, a while back, but everything since then I’ve gotten.
What sort of time are you seeing for shipping to the east coast/USA with the upgraded shipping?

Not until you decide to stop. Most carbon steel alloys become non-martensitic at the point where quenching should be done when heat-tempering them. More accurate than judging temp by color.

I only had time to briefly try one out.
I was surprised by how white the beam was. On paper it was supposed to be a 5000K tint, what was delivered was a 5000 tint. Somehow I was just hoping for something warmer.
Notwithstanding my unrealistic expectations, the flashlight puts out a bright, clean smooth beam. Compared to my mellow Convoy S2+ 4C flashlight, the BLF 348 delivers a crisper, livelier light. And while I still prefer the tint of my S2+, color rendition is much more true-to-life on the BLF 348.
The beam shape is perfect for this type of flashlight. Nice broad hotspot feathering into a fairly wide, bright spill. Some subtle artifacts show up while white wall hunting, but are not apparent in actual use. A layer of diffusion film picked up from here will help smooth out any inconsistencies and broaden the beam a little.
The host exudes sophistication. From its shiny stainless steel finish, stiletto shaped body, custom BLF lettering, blingy pocket clip, to its precisely engineered tail button; it is the embodiment of haute couture. Shaken, not stirred.
How much did this flashlight cost? I have to pinch myself to remind me of the actual purchase price. 
Received mine today! Haven’t checked them all. Popped an eneloop in one and an efest in another. Very nice tint! I see now why people like nichia. Also after comparing to my blf a6 in 3d I see what people mean by green! It did get a little warm with the efest and I didn’t want to kill the poor thing right after receiving it so I shut it down. These are great! The finish is as good as everyone says. My friends and co workers won’t know where the tailcap is.
