SOLVED Largest 18650 battery holder Update 27Jan15 20 Gauge is too small get 12.

Sorry not sure if this is the right place to post. I am looking at purchasing a dozen 18650 batteries. I am looking for a holder that fits them all. I see many 2 pack holders and a few four pack. Does anyone know if a case or carrier that holds a dozen or more. I have checked eBay and amazon with no luck.

Thank you as I feel it is dangerous to leave the charged bateries in a drawer.

*UPDATE 20 gauge is too small get the 12.

Ok thanks for all the great ideas here. I talked to the EBay supplier of the shell boxes. He confirmed the inside of the 20 gauge is 0.75X 0.75 inches. This will be the perfect fit for the 18650. I will put foam on the inside to hold the cells down as it is three inches tall.

I also liked the fishing box but for 4.50 USD you can’t beat it thanks for the great idea as I am slowly moving away from my supply of 70 AA LSD to these batteries

Thank you all and have a bright day!

I think there is not more than 4:

There are brackets where you can make your own Bat-PÜacks, but I don’t think that that is what you want…

I use tackle boxes for fishing. Not a tight fit for traveling maybe, but better than in a drawer.
Something like this:

These are cheap and work great. Like Zanders, I also use the fishing lure boxes but the ones I use have adjustable size compartments for different size batteries.

Will this work? maybe a little loose.

I use these “Really Useful Box” .2 liter size. It holds 10 cells perfectly.

They are pricey but can be had for less at some retailers. Very well made.

I use shotgun shell cases

I wonder if they would fit in one designed for .410 shotgun shells?

That’s the best yet!

Not waterproof, but sturdy and shockproof enough.

.410 is really small, so I think not. That might function as a AAA case.

EDIT: I’m glad the shotgun shell cases idea came up again though, I’d forgotten about it. Nice!

20 ga would be closer to the diameter of 18650’s

Yup…20ga
Rim diameter .761 in (19.3 mm)
Case length 2.270 (unfired) [57.658mm] <-hmmm…might be a little short??

Here’s what i use for my laptop pulls:

Its $9.40 on amazon here: 50 Round Shotshell Box

The squares are designed to hold 12 gauge rounds and the box is pretty tall so I put some foam on top of the cells to keep them from moving when the top is closed.

Nice! With space for chargers and other stuff down the middle…AWESOME!

Is the 12ga the batteries loose, kinda flop/jiggle around, but if they are in their compartments it won’t matter

12ga is the correct size. 20ga is still too small (15.6mm).

Nice looking box Space_Noodles.

I like the idea of the 12 gauge shell holder.

The divider is ArtBin #6939AB and can be found HERE:

Tray and 1 divider HERE
A second divider (6939AB) can be added

Hmm, am I seeing this right?

  • tray is open bottom, so must sit on a flat surface
  • box is twice as tall as 18650’s, so a big foam pad or something is needed if the box is tipped/inverted

It seems like the shotgun shell boxes have a huge advantage in securely holding cells.

You didn’t miss a thing and you are right on all three counts. I looked at the box and realized it is too deep and passed on it, then I forgot that when I posted, realized it again and I thought I edited it out???

So only the divider is useful and it needs a tray. I will make one or glue a bottom onto it if I have to.
The cells fit so perfectly that I just had to get it.
