Solved: Solving the mystery of the Nealsgadgets "LR2170HP" 21700 ultra high current cells

Wow…I’ve been shopping around for brass buttons this week and it never once occured to me that I could use the 5 gallon bucket of spent brass I have lying around…This changes everything.

Nickel plated is the way to go? If only I saved those. CCI stingers are nickel plated right? What’s in season right now…pretty much nothing…I’m gonna go make sure one of these .22s is still zeroed in lol. Just in case. Then I’m replacing so many contacts

P45B from Liion-wholesale is here. Looking forward to the shoot out vs Neal’s Lishen.

curious how this went, did you do this in another thread?

On topic, we weren’t able to get any info from Lishen on this “LR2170HP”. The only 3000mAh high output cell they’re aware of is LR2170LH, which is not currently available with no plans for production.

Hi Jon I posted the following in another thread. My conclusion is in the last sentence :+1::slightly_smiling_face:. I should note that the Lishen’s capacity is only 2800 mAh, and for that personally I prefer P45B to Neal’s Lishen.

Turbo turn-on outputs between some of the battery heavyweights. The flashlight used is Mateminco PD90S which has one of THE most blood-thristy LEDs on market, the SFH55. Specs: 9100 lm, max current draw 62A. Outputs measured with Texas Ace lumen tube.

No inference intended other than Turbo turn-on output. Test was done multiple times, and at different occasions to observe trends. Batteries recharged to full and light was cooled in between runs. The highest value is reported. I’m making more measurements so please don’t be surprised if there are changes.

Turbo Turn-on Outputs of Mateminco PD90S:
Nealsgadgets’ Lishen “LR2170HP” Code=03BCEA3 7400 lm :astonished: :exploding_head: :slightly_smiling_face:
Molicel P45B 6700 lm
Samsung 30T 6700 lm
Samsung 40T 6300 lm
Wurkkos 5000 mAh 5600 lm
Liitokala 5000 mAh 4700 lm

In Jin Heng JKK76, Molicel P45B and Samsung 30T also have similar outputs. While both 30T and P45B has similar result, P45B is for me the number one battery to get as its capacity is higher than Samsung 30T.

Jon, do y’all test em or anything? I have four en-route from Neal, could forward a pair if you are wanting a hands-on…

(The high discharge Lishen 21700)

If Jon declines, Mooch might be interested in testing them, it’d be interesting to see the results from professional testing equipment.

1 Thank

Right, that’s what I was thinking.

Originally when I tried to get the cells, I was planning on sending a pair to mooch, but that ended up not working out.

Hopefully we can still get a reliable/trusted source for these batteries, at a reasonable price

1 Thank

Thanks for the offer. Unfortunately I’m just so busy. Mooch is probably a better fit for that. If he declines maybe I could find time in the future if things slow down.

Perfect, thanks!

Really is interesting, that such a high power cell can exist but the only person who knows about it is Neal.

Apparently it is known about in China, I ran into articles in chinese-language flashlight forums that mentioned the LR2170LH and its high power while doing research for this thread. It just seems like nobody else was willing to export it.

Well, looks like I missed something somewhere… the Lishen cells I have coming from Neal are a different cell.

AFAIK those are copies of the Samsung 40T, but with slightly worse performance. Nothing too special sadly.

Figures.

It’s taken over a month to get em… and they still aren’t here.

Thank goodness I have four new 40T’s awaiting the NS14. :sunglasses:

Nice… My “amateur” study of output for NS14’s “lesser” twin, NS59v2 Chaos is below.

NIGHTWATCH CHAOS
Throw 754m
Output:
Nealsgadgets “Mystery” Lishen “LR2170HP”: 29300 lm
Molicel P45B 26900
Samsung 30T 25800
Samsung 40T 22900
Molicel P42a 22600
Convoy Liitokala 19300
Wurkkos 5000 mAh 18800

3 Thanks

Did you ever get to test the NS59v2 with the P45B?

You caught it immediately :+1:. I just added to post above.

1 Thank

Pretty big difference in performance between the P45B and LR2170LH, almost 10% less output. Definitely not happy that the mail courier lost the batteries to my NS59v2.

I actually tweaked my NS59.2 to get the claimed output. It got 180° in like 13 seconds.

You’re welcome. The thing about Neal’s Lishen is that even though I “treasure” it because it’s rare as hen’s teeth and ordering from Neal’s or Chinese web site could be an adventure in and of itself :astonished: :yum:, I actually prefer P45B for the higher capacity.

With monster lights like my Nightwatch Chaos, the Mystery Lishen is a dilemma. The light’s crazy output and the fact that it’s so damn fun that I Turbo-abuse :exploding_head: :slightly_smiling_face: it all the time, but those two things also mean a higher capacity battery is better. Mystery Lishen always seem to run out of battery and short cut the fun.

3 Thanks

I got the four Lishen cells from Neal along with a Nightwatch NS14. There are two cells with similar numbers and two with a different batch of numbers. The NS14 won’t work with these or even 40T’s…. Either way the 2 series cells are considerably shorter than necessary.

Considering how to approach that issue. The light is going to need or demand serious amperage if 43,000 lumens is to be believed.
