Actually, the reason that one interested me was because it was 1.5V max - the driver will work better with alkalines. A policeman friend (He's a nurse where I work and a part-time cop) needs a new light and the local cops only issue AA alkalines.
The 0.8-4.2V drivers are usually much less efficient than drivers for a tighter voltage range.
I didnt know that at all, i like learning something new. You just cant beat the price on the light....HAIII is a nice touch and it tailstands as well. I wonder what switch it uses, forward or a reverse clickie.
I like the look of that light, but what are the max lumens you can get from a single AA (alkaline or rechargeable)? The listed 160 isn't accurate is it?
160 might be accurate - I've had at least one light lately that exceeded DX claimed spec.
200 from an AA is most likely to need a 14500 and is likely to be a hand burner. I can do some rough estimates of lumen output from my light box - just don't take them too seriously.
