Current in both is said to be 1A to the LED so runtimes on high may be short enough to prevent burns. If these are producing at their rated output then they will get hot. Briefly in the case of the CR2 light. Time to burn my credit cards and close my Paypal account.
AW used to sell protected ones. I have 6 of them to use with my Orb Raws. I believe he only sells unprotected ones now. Since one of my Orb Raws is a Luxeon 3, it doesn't see a lot of use these days. I've killed a couple of them, but i think i still own 6 of them. DX has these but the capacity is less than half of what they offer. Google for 15266 cell and you should find them. Here's one from eBay. The CR123 version is brighter and will work very well with IMR cells that you already have. But it is more expensive. It'll probably work fine with standard unprotected RCR123s though. Sign up on Jayki.com and post in the thread in News for a chance at a pair of protected CR123s for nothing. Just do it by Saturday afternoon - the draw closes on Sunday, Australian time which is 11hr ahead of ours. The charger you have already will work just fine with these.
Both lights are nice.......the cr2 is going to by tiny in my hands but i do have a lot of primaries for it though. Im really digging the 16340 light. And its also nice to see that they have single modes as well for a tad bit cheaper.
Couldn't resist any longer. I ordered the 5 mode CR2 light. This will be my first CR2 light so I promptly picked up 3.7v Ultrafire RCR2 (aka 15266).
I'm real excited about receiving that shiny goodness but now the DX wait begins. I also picked up some cheap AAA lights from KD called Lanshi LS-007 (link below). Anyone familiar with these? DX sells this light in black only and without the Lanshi name but it seems to have good reviews (sold out on DX).
That's a very kind gesture on your part. I live in Chicago in the US.
Don,
I actually picked up the 3.7v rcr2 from goinggear.com for $4. Lighthound.com also carries another brand of 3.7v for $5, but those were the only places I saw the 3.7v versions with my initial search.
