I purchased this light from Amazon, seemed like a decent deal for a light that could possibly perform as well as the Nitecore MH20. I just received it today…took a few pics to post until I use it for a few days then I’ll post a review.
Hmm I got another mh20/clone
Something with nite in the name for $20 after reading a review here on BLF ( in my search for a nice light for people who do not know anything about li ion so with good internal charging)
Just received my Soonfire NS17 today from amazon and for the price I paid I couldn’t be happier.
Came with a protected 3400mAh Panasonic NCR18560B (soonfire overwrapped)
The lens on mine is not cloudy at all, crystal clear in fact. I’ve only played around with it for a few minutes but here’s my first impressions:
Excellent UI.
Sturdy clip.
Anodizing perfect, no flaws.
Very bright and decent tint for being CW
On a white wall there’s a slightly yellow center spot, but so does my CW Olight S30, the Soonfires tint is nearly the same as the Olight S30 (which is nicer than my other Olights), more of a pure white and no greenish/bluish tones. The Soonfires beam is more intense than the S30 and the S30 heats up much faster.
What did I tell you not even a hour ago, while you were waiting on the light. That you would like it. And with a 3400 battery and domestic shipping isn’t bad for $30.
And you were so correct. Upon first impression I have to say this is easily one of the best “budget” brand flashlights I’ve had. The upgraded battery is a huge plus, it’s worth at least $10-$12 alone, possibly more depending on where you buy.
I was on the fence between this and the Nitenumen, I was afraid of the funny “Soonfire” brand name but I got a great discount offer to buy it on amazon so I gave it a shot, and now I’m glad I did!
Not sure if the Nitenumen currently being shipped from Gearbest has the upgraded battery.
The nitenumen on gearbest doesn’t come with a battery just the light. And worse customer service, if something happens with the ns17 soonfire will send parts or a replacement. Without much effort on your part. Unlike the China vendors wanting a video, pictures abs giving the run around wanting it shipped back etc
Thanks for saying clearly that you’ve been given a discount or a free item in return for posting about it.
This protects the maker/seller.
(Some years back, some sellers were asking people explicitly not to mention that they got something in exchange for posting reviews online, or even for posting only positive reviews. That’s the practice that brought on the rulemaking. It’s not draconian, it’s pretty simple, just say it)
It all depends where in the ui your at when its off. One click turns it on moonlight. If you click again within .5 second it goes to turbo. From turbo is you click again it turns off. From turning it on (moonlight) its 4 more clicks until turbo. If you wish to turn it off from any mode besides turbo you hold the button for about 1 second and it turns off. The strobe mode is hidden. To access it with the light turned off hold the button down for 1-1.5 seconds and strobe will come on. Strobe isn’t accessible with the light turned on already
Edit once in moonlight or middle modes a double click will go to the 1000 lumen turbo. And with a ncr18650b you get around 3 hours at that level
You don’t have to hold the switch to turn it on. (one click from off and starts in lowest mode) Subsequent clicks scroll through the 4 remaining brightness levels in ascending order, the last click after turbo is off.
- ultra low - low - med - high - ultra high - off
You do have to hold the switch to turn it off from any mode except turbo (hold about one second)
A rapid “double click” from any mode instantly activates Turbo. (but not from off)
