Going to need it eventually.
Any tips and suggestions would be most welcome.
Cost - unless stupid expensive - is not a problem.
Thanks.

Jeff
Dragon NaturallySpeaking is still used heavily, but it isn’t the cheapest option. It really depends on your use case, how you intend to use it, as well as where.
Free? Just let your Android phone “listen in” on your conversations, and you’ll start seeing “targeted ads” reflecting what you talked about.
Anyhoo, I remember someone mentioning a speech-to-text thingy with a goofy name like “SpeakUp!” or something like that, if that sounds familiar.
I’ll try asking, but we kinda lost touch a ways back. So at any rate, it’d be kind of old, but they may have updated/better versions by now.
Been years ago when I tried Dragon Speaking. My Mom had arthritis so bad her keyboarding was becoming a real problem. I thought the app would be a help. Frankly, it was terrible. Speech recognition was lame and the app itself had a significant learning curve. I disliked it…a lot. Anyone struggling to simply use a computer for simple tasks would have been completely lost.
When I tried the phone app recognition available on all systems now, I was surprised on how well it did work.
Maybe the commercial stuff has gotten better? If not it may as well pack it in.
I tried Dragon many - many years ago.
It mostly worked for straight dictation. Not so hot for computer control.
I’ve only got partial use of my right hand as of now. That’s gonna go away this year most likely. Really frustrating - I used to be quite zippy with both hands.
So I need something for text entry - like here.
And to replace the mouse for computer command and control.
All the Best,
Jeff
Would something like a roller mouse help? It’s often provided to workplaces in which a traditional mouse would pose a health issue. Not the cheapest, but it does tend to be much easier on the wrists and hands and some people swear by them. Doesn’t help with the typing issue, but perhaps you may want to test out the built-in speech to text options.
If you happen to be a Microsoft user, give this a go.
As for Mac, here’s some info.
Never seen one of those before. Nifty - But won’t do me any good.
Eventually both hands will be non-functional.
Thank you for the MS link.
All the Best,
Jeff
