Just a fair heads up - I noticed today when I went to but a GB-763 from exduct, that they have increased in price they are now around $18.00 shipped. They only have around 60 of the aluminum ones, and 25 of the g-10. One of the best, sharpest, holds its razor sharp edge longer than any other budget knife ive tried…is about to be gone! Runonrock.com still have the GB-763 for 16.00 shipped.
Hopefully they would do another run of these. But I dont think thats how it works over there.
I hope they make more too, and I’m pretty sure they will since they are good sellers. I can tell you that for sure they have done different runs before. I have a couple of the G10 ones from those different runs. They put the SRM logo and model number down on the hollow grind area on the older ones I have and the logo is up near the spine on the flat part on the newer ones.
Probably (hopefully) it is that time of the year when they get out of stock (maybe because of xmas?) and probably (hopefully) they’ll start with it in the factory again. I guess they have a year plan, so they only make a batch of each model at a time.
doingoutdoor has either the GB-763 or LB-763 for $13.99 delivered. Thinking about getting one…which one should I get?
I would buy the GB-version - the handle has more grip as the alu version

G10, for sure. Then order alu as backup.
The aluminum version is easier to deploy , the G10 sticks to the pocket a bit .
But the aluminum version can be stripped....

i’m not that much into alu or rubberised handles… IMO G10 is more comfortable and offers better grip and i admit that i find the looks much better too.
How did you strip the anodizing. Did you bead blast it? I'd like to do that to mine..
I soaked the 763 in Greased Lightning .
Nothing more . I suppose you could polish it to a mirror shine , but I like the satin finish .
I also remove the thumbstuds , since I open it with the Axis lock anyway ...
I'm really like the satin finish you got. A polished finish wouldn't work for me.. Greased Lightning is on my shopping list now :)
finally arrived in the mail yesterday... it was a lot smaller than I expected, which was a good thing. My basic layman's subjective review is that it is lightweight, deploys well, and looks great. Fits right in the palm of my hands (about the width of my palm lengthwise folded).. heck it fits my change pocket of my jeans nicely with room to fit my leatherman squirt ps4. Of the available photos I've seen, I couldn't really make out the size. Pocket clip holds well too. I actually like the "wide" blade. Will be carrying and using this more and will store my SOG Pentagon Elite 1 in my EDC backpack .
Is this model slated for retirement? I don’t see it listed that way on the SRM website. I sent them an email to find out…will let everyone know the response.
Am I THE only one who does not like the 763? I Don’t hate it, it has some good in it. Axis lock is smooth and secure. It’s nice looking. It’s sharp off the box.
But… It’s just wrong, somehow. It’s the blade. Blade of my 763 corroded quite badly soon after I got it. I admit I did not treat it very well. It was a back up of my back up knife in my fishing lure box. Some times it got wet (fresh water only) and was not dried properly (or at all…). That being said, my cheap stainless Mora knife that is on the very same box is still totally rust free after couple of years.
It’s not just the rust. Blade is too thin also. That brings two problems. First, I don’t trust it. That’s maybe more of a my problem than the blades, but when I used it I always feared it will break on me. The other problem is that because blade is light, the balance of the knife is wrong when opened. There is no weight whatsoever in the blade end, all is in the handle. That feels just wrong.
I have couple other chinese folders as well. My favorite by far right now is SRM 707. That is one sweet knife. I’m also waiting delivery of Enlan EL-01 with rosewood handle, I have high expectations for that one.
I have two of the EL-01D rosewood scaled models, it’s a great knife as it comes, takes a few flips to bed in but it gets really smooth.
I have the LB-763 and I think it’s the best Axis lock of all the Chinese made Axis locks, Omega springs just right and a good lock-up with plenty of room for wear - the little Land 6261 gives it a run for it’s money though. On both of them I need a lanyard for that bit extra to grip on.
I heard from somewhere that the G10 models of the 763 were going, the LB - aluminium was staying, don’t know why, this might be a clue though. -
I had to get one to see what it was like, no faults, smooth as butter, just without the Axis lock. still a very good knife.
Then we have this -
85mm blade in the same shape as the GB-763 but a Real Steel, that 85mm blade would have been nice in the Axis lock version.
FastTech are selling them as the SanRenMu E-763 but it clearly says Real Steel on the blade.
The shape of the 763 must be the most widely used shape in all the Chinese knives the cut out and scale shape where the liner lock is, you can see it repeated, a bit stretched on some but still there.

If you go for the 85mm blade then the Real Steel has some interesting features, factory sold G10 scales.-

OK, bought 3 of the aluminum handled LB763’s at Exduct for $36.03, like the look of the stripped aluminum. This is my first purchase of a Chinese knife over $1 within the last 5 years. Hope the quality of the steel has improved in that time.
Edit: Dang, should have looked, could have bought 3 at Fasttech for $31.23.
2nd Edit: Went ahead and bought 3 from Fasttech, will sell a few at work, now the race is on to see who can deliver the fastest, Fasttech order was placed about 15 minutes after Exduct order.
Where can you buy the scales from?
I like the orange one, it would be good for work.
The only place that I’ve seen them is in the Accessories section on the Real Steel website, $9.95 but I’ve never bought from there so I have no idea of Postage and Packing costs.
They are for the Real Steel E963 with G10 scales or possibly the “SanRenMu/Real Steel” E963 from Fast Tech.
They are very like the SanRenMu 7063 but are larger, 85mm blade instead of 68mm.
SanRenMu do an orange version of the 7063 the 7063LUC-LJ FastTech stock it and at $11.41 it’s only a dollar and a half more than the pair of scales for the E963, the scales on the SanRenMu 7063 are aluminium and there is a nice bright orange.
