The stupidly named “Sunshine Protection Act” didn’t get passed yet, there’s still a chance it can, but individual states could opt out.
Personally I would just stick with Standard time and be done with it. Best time for our hobby.
I voted for illusion because in my line of work the very well defined concept of time is largely ignored. So much fun trying to integrate a time keeping app with my system for a multi time zone payroll;-)
When I was a kid there was a popular song that pretty much sums it up.
i just love the horns in Chicago songs.
Just pick something and leave it alone—quit the stupid changing that screws up everyone’s sleep and life.
1/2 hour compromise would be nice.
Permanent daylight savings time.
Save the daylight.
Save the whales.
Save the batteries.
I’m sure it will be better for the whales.
And we won’t have to change the batteries in the smoke alarms anymore.
I don’t know which is better so will read the suggestions, but they need to pick one and just have time, period, and no switching.
If by permanent standard time you mean 12:00 is when the sun is at its highest point in the sky, then yes.
It makes 0:00 the actual middle of the night too, like it should.
Dayligjt saving is fine, but leave the clock alone.
I get fed up with changing clocks 2 times a year and it’s just stupid.
I'll accept either Standard time or Day Light Saving time, but please make it permanent.
Switching the clocks twice a year doesn't seem to help mankind.
I’m not a morning person and like having daylight extend into the evening hours so DST is preferable, but above that is simply picking one or the other, and sticking with it.
Connected devices and the atomic clocks take care of themselves, but it’s become a chore to switch everything else back and forth, and I don’t even bother with the watches I don’t wear regularly any more.
Saving not savings.
personally, i vote Zulu/military/UTC.
same time everywhere.
Permanent standard time would be best. I'd rather take DST on/off than permanent summer time (the correct time half the year > the correct time none of the year). DST is obsolete - it was invented for farmers, but they have lights these days...
Careful...
Some people get totally bent out of shape if you try to correct them and they find out they're not right.
Permanent standard time as time zones were set up in 1883 with no local or state opting for anything else.
While we are at it change to a 24-hour clock.
Throw in having the US go metric for weights and measures and do away with the paper dollar bill and the 1 cent coin.
People’s preference can be influenced by where they are in each time zone east to west and to some extent even north to south. Also what their daily routine is time wise. As to the label with an s or not. The pole/poll uses the label “daylight savings time”. If you voted in the poll you sanctioned the use of the “s”. I say we modify Ben Franklin’s idea and call it Candle Saving Time , CST. In the US it’ll be confused with Central Standard Time. In Canada it will be confused with Canadian Standard Time. Or how about we just ban winter and then it’s not a problem. Okay I’ve got an even better idea. We keep changing the clocks forward 1 hour in the spring, and in the fall we change them forward one hour also, NOT back. Eventually winter will start in June when it’s warm. I’m going to have my Google Assistant do this on my phone, you guys do what you want.
There aren’t enough options here. Sometimes the time is a suggestion and I need a more precise manner to calculate the time.

Would prefer making DST permanent, but either way make it permanent.
I would make daylight savings time permanent, and during the winter months I would spring forward another hour so that we have double daylight savings.
Standard earth time, and permanent.
People want more daylight in evenings in summer, let companies, stores, etc., change their opening/closing hours instead. Work actual 8-4 instead of “9-5”.
“Daylight savings time”, ie, redefining the observed time to get the illusion of “more daylight”, seems a Microsofty thing to do.
Per the “joke” (which is actuality, not a joke; cf: “line separator” vs “line terminator”):
q: How many Microsoft employees does it take to change a lightbulb?
a: None. Microsoft just declares darkness the new standard.
That’s DST in a nutshell.
