Stanley 1M Series Lithium Ion Spotlight on Clearance at Walmart

Couldn't resist this light on clearance at Walmart. It was $13.49. I got it with the intention of converting to HID. It has built in Li-ion cells and H3 55 watt halogen bulb. Haven't opened it up yet, but I the specs indicate it it's 2S. I guessing 2,000 mAh cells because it takes 4 hours to charge and charges as 500 mA. Kind of a bummer because I need 12 volts to run my ballast. It's compact, has a typical artifact riddled ican beam pattern. Measured 54kcd with partially run down cells. Not sure it will be worth the mod since it is not 12 volts.

I would use an LED instead, how about an mt-g?
heatsinking is an issue, but a super mini pc fan will do the trick, there may be 5V ones out there

I have the 2M 1,365 lumens one of these, rebadged to 1,105 lumens within the last year. And I remember it dwarfing every other light I had until the triple XM-Ls or XM-L2s came out. The 582-lumen one wasn’t bad, either, but the batteries on all of these are complete Shaiza! I never got more than two or three charges.

If it is a proper CC/CV charger, it will be less than 2Ah, because for about the last hour it should be charging in CV mode with a lower current. In that case it would be more like 1.7Ah. That is assuming the charging time spec is accurate and not optimistic (which could mean higher battery capacity ofc).

Thank folks.

I'll stick with the HID conversion. LED's don't generally perform well in ican reflectors.

Yeah, I figured the cells will be worthless base on the product review comments on the light. I was hoping it would be a 3S arrangement. Then, I would have just had to upgrade the cells.

Terrible reviews. Two 2000mah should be about 15min runtime. Kinda high 7.5A per cell, so reduce that by a bit.
