This had been bugging me for awhile! Anyone know what LED Streamlight puts in their Singers, the 800-lumen ones? My dad has one. The emitter is tiny, but is really powerful for being so small. Streamlight juat says “C4” but I think it’s marketing lingo as I can’t find any specs. It’s small, maybe 2mm, domed and has a pretty good throw. I’d say decent CRI too.
Yeah, C4 is Streamlight’s marketing phrase for any surface-mount LED they happen to come across.
I don’t know the answer to the question; do you have any pictures we could compare? I can’t think of any ~2mm LEDs capable of 800 lumens unless operated way beyond their datasheet ratings. Maybe it’s a Cree XB-H (XP-G2 die on a 2.45mm package)?
If there’s a chance you’re off in your dimensions, then XM-L2 is the most likely option by far. That’s pretty much the default answer from any big manufacturer looking for 800-1000 lumens. But they’re 5mm square.
Thanks! I’d have to get a picture of it. That one looks a little big for the emitter in the light. It looks closer to maybe an XP-l size. I’m thinking it’s not the 800 lm model?
I confirmed, it’s the 425 lumen model Stinger not the 800. It looks like a Luxeon led? It’s small, domed, and orange like an xhpxx.2 led. I’ll get a picture tonight.
The XP-L is a 3.5mm LED, and has little squared-off shoulders where the dome meets the flat sides. The LED in that picture is absolutely, 100% an XM-L2. Also, you can’t identify that it’s a V6 from the picture.
It’s a bit hard to make out the details, but I’m fairly sure that’s a Cree XP-G2. The die size looks proportionally correct, it’s got the silver coating on the base with the little dark notch in one corner, and a shadow along the opposite edge of the dome.
