Stuff You Lost or Realized Was Lost Recently

“Anything recently discovered mysteriously missing from your routine stuff?”

recently discovered after being missing……

1. glasses. found them in the woods where we walk. why did i take them off there?
2. dog leash. found it in the clothes hamper. must have been on the floor near my underwear.
3. knife. not between the couch cushions. it was stuck between the seat and back in the car.

I kept telling myself to find the extension tails for my snowshoes, in anticipation of winter.

So today I went in the basement to start digging through boxes, trying to picture where I saw the tails last…

well… someone with forethought and planning, a younger me that I had forgotten, had put the tails on the snowshoes, to keep them together… duh! frigging brilliant.

then I wanted to know what happened to one of my triple LED RRT-01 lights… it was not in its storage case…

found it in the 4x2 daypack kit (two lights, two spare cells, two knives, two firestarters)… all present and accounted for

drama averted

Since we’re talking about lost stuff that was eventually recovered, I have two.

1) My Convoy M1 in warm white. I thought it’d fallen out of my pocket on a supermarket I visit often. After badgering their Customer Support about lost and found, I gave up, heartbroken. A couple months later, I put my hand on the car’s glasses holder above the driver’s door and guess what my fingers bumped into.

2) A Tool AAA Nichia. One fine day I noticed it missing, and no idea where I could’ve lost it other than my flat. Spent months looking for it now and then, as it’s now a discontinued light, and found it a few weeks ago by pure accident in the bucket where I keep parts and chargers.

Seems like a common thing. Just when I wasn’t looking for it I found my missing FW3A

Every time we have a dinner with guests, we do a “hide our clutter” routine. Dump stuff in boxes and stash them in spare bedroom or my mancave. Problem arises that we never restore stashed items to their original positions…ie:lost.

Not as much lost but found, unexpectedly - $100

Have an older lamp (circa the ‘50s) whose switch needed some fixing. When I took it to the shop I found the bill had stuck to the marble weight in the base. Being porous, the humidity got the paper bill (there was a time these were made of linen/paper) ’glued’. I don’t know how long this was lost, but certainly after the 80s.

But I’m still looking for my Bushnells, intermediate-sized binoculars. Always kept them between the car seats for a quick inspection of some building features. Always return things to their original place; it’s where my memory pointers go.

Now with some time available I undertook the long task of cleaning and sorting my shop. I’ll be lost for some years to come.

My Ti3 with Nichia 219b that Ive had for many years slipped off my key chain and out of my pocket

Lost a Thorfire PF04 2 x AAA penlight today from front pocket of Fuzzy lined Shirtjacket into 7+ inches of snow somewhere in my driveway or yard. Hopefully the promised 47 degrees on this coming Thursday will reveal where it is.
Otherwise I think the snowblower will find it on the storm that is projected for this weekend.
Hate losing lights this way.
Got 2 good Eneloops in to boot.

Had hoped to play around with Meshtastic a bit, ordered a Sensecap T1000-E a couple of months ago, charged it up, set it up for a few hours to see how many others it could ping (was getting 4 or 5 in London)… Must’ve packed it away somewhere, life got busy and had Christmas etc.

Fast forward to earlier this month, I’ve absolutely no idea where I put it. I’ve found the charging cable, I’ve found the slip of paper and the QR code from the packaging, but no sign of the actual device. Turned all the likely places upside-down looking for it, I’m taking this as a sign I need to have a de-clutter!

My sanity was lost long ago…

Wife & I go to store. I’m on a mission; I get what I came for and leave. Wife is ‘shopping’. After 30+ years of being married to her I’m still not sure what ‘shopping’ means.

I have my stuff in hand and I’m wandering around the store, looking up & down every unlikely isle (think feminine products, cosmetics, costume jewelery etc.), clearly begging help just from body language. A member of the floor staff will inevitably ask, “Can I help you find something?”.

Me - “Well, I had a wife when I got here…”

My definition of shopping: the art of comparitive value analysis against market pricing, either with or without the intent to purchase.

Most people I’ve seen: the art of matching wallet to mind, that is, empty and material-consumeristic. “I’m already here, I’m not leaving empty handed.”

Just stumbled across this response. I’d forgotten about it.

I did find the TG06s. Started a mirror-image thread of sorts - ‘Stuff You found Again You Though Was Lost’:

Well, here it happens on a daily basis: three and a half years ago we moved from a tiny flat to a rustic house, with land around it and on it, another small house that has a workshop underneath. The garage got pretty soon filled up with unwanted things we didn’t want in the flat, gardening tools, pots and bags of various soils, and my tools never really had a place. So it happens that I use something, and I will leave it where I use it. A week later I would be looking for this tool, and there won’t be a way to find it, only for it to reappear a month or two later in some unexpected place.

Now I am reorganizing the garage, though. All spanners, Allen and torx keys are in one place, same as hammers, mallets and various pliers. The only one that are not is the circlip pliers that moved to my desk, to open the tailcap.

I don’t lose any flashlight because I have only one, my wife doesn’t know about it and so I keep it hidden, or in my pocket. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
Very little risk to lose it in this way!
