So, I recently started using my lights late at night SIGNIFICANTLY more than I used to and the lowest low in my SST20 D4 and 4x7135 S2+ just isn’t cutting it. Sometimes it’s just right, other times its too bright.
D4 should be roughly 1.75lm if the 219c is ~1.5lm.
The only light I can think of off the top of my head is the Skilhunt M150 which has 0.2 and 1.5lm, which I stupidly sold last month. I also have a new Convoy T2 LH351D on the way which may work too based on Zeroair’s review.
Are there any other lights in this price range, high CRI preferred that offer modes this low? Parametrek’s search lists “sub-lumen” as a feature, but isn’t always accurate.
You can pick up a used Zebralight for $50 or less. Sometimes. Sunwayman v11r or the Jetbeam RRT’s you can pick up for less than that as well, used. Sometimes.
Folomov EDC-C2 gets .5 of a lumen and high cri. Cool little light too. $35 or so I think.
The RovyVon keychain lights get down that low too with high cri. $30 ish.
Forgot about your database. That is a fantastic piece of work! Was going to suggest a couple of Thrunites and then realized I forgot about one and realized that every Thrunite I have does sub lumen. The only other one I have is the EO2 II and that hasn’t arrived yet. Armytec got stolen.
This is a very useful and often used level of light for me. Living with the SC31 Pro as it gets down to about a lumen. Definitely prefer sub lumen though.
I have 9/10 like new (tiny tiny ano nicks in a few spots) V11R I was about to post for sale with all the original accessories but no box. I’m in Pittsburgh too, so if you wanted to check it out PM me.
Manker AAA and probably AA, as well as the Thrunite Ti3 V2, although NW and CW can vary a lot as to lowest level, both are low. The Mankers are the lowest I have ever seen when you adjust them.
In that sense, it is accurate. I wanted options that were below 1 lumen and didn’t expect all of the one lumen lights to show up. Sorry if my misunderstanding of the option came out wrong.
I didn’t realize lowering the lumen value to less that one lumen would work. Thank you for the information.
Thank you for the other suggestions guys, I’ll start reading into them.
Its possible to modd D4 driver (and all other FET+1(+N) drivers) to get sub lumen moonlight. You will need 10V 10uF ceramic capacitor and reflash Attiny85.
I will also vote for the Manker, if you want a small light. I have the e02ii (AAA) and it goes so low you can barely see it, even in a dark bathroom. For longer run time you can get the e03 (AA) but it is more costly than your desired price.
the mankers go super low and offer high CRI, both aaa and aa, they are angle lights (headlamps)
the sunwayman and thrunite go super low, they dont come High CRI
but the LED can be swapped out for High CRI… if you want to learn how, Im happy to share info.
for example:
(these thrunite Ti3 go down to 0.09, some go lower… they vary at that level)
these V11r go down to 0.01 lumens
the sunwayman is an outstanding 16340 design for low light use… highly recommended. they also are able to run on AA if desired (with an adapter)…
here is the difference between High CRI and stock V11r
219b sw45k on the left, stock NW XM-L LED on the right:
I set my GTmicro so that moonlight is no longer the default (5?) but cranked it allllllllllll the way down to 1. It’s stoopit-low, and throwy as it is, I can look right at the LED without any grief.
A floodier light where the teeny amount of light is spread out over a wider area would put out considerably lower lux in any given area.
My only other Narsim lights are my Q8s, but I imagine even level 1 would be rather bright with 4 emitters.
My Manker e02ii has the lowest moonlight of any light I own, including a ZL H600fw mk4. Note that I run it with AAA, not 10440, and the moonlight with lithium will likely be higher.
I also have a manker e02 with the nicha, it’s super low but I was a little disappointed with the runtime, only got 30-40hrs on the lowest mode. Wuben e01 wasn’t quite as low, but got 80hrs on low, thrunite Ti3v2 was longest at 150hrs and really low, but led is kind of greenish. (all on eneloop AAA)
I can program the lowest mode on my Manker E02, in 21 separate steps between 0.002 up to 0.6 lumens.
The first 9 steps are all below 0.01, which is just ridiculously low.
different lights have different output levels, so their runtime will be different
for my needs, comparing runtime on sublumen levels, is not a concern, I just change batteries as needed.
Configure Anduril without “USE_DYNAMIC_UNDERCLOCKING ” , conect 5-20uF (im using 10uF) capacitor to Led minus and ground and you will get super low low moon mode.
