Suggest a great host for a compact thrower build?

Hello guys.

I’ve been out of the flashlight game for a while now.
But I’ve got a 12 year old boy whos picking up on the interest, and I would like to build a compact’ish thrower with him.
My boy is especially fascinated with my thrower lights, and with flashlights producing even lighting (like from collimating lenses, TIR).

I have quite a few LED’s laying around, copper springs, drifferent drivers etc. that i might use in a build.
-But I have no idea what kind of host would be nice to build in?

Did anything, like, really cool hit the market the last few years?

Any suggestions for a nice build?

The Convoy Z1 might interest him - it doesn’t really fit into the compact category though. You can buy the host on some sites.

The Z1 actually seems to fit the bill.

Anybody know the size of the driver and the LED plate?

Other host options is still welcome too

Convoy M1 is fairly compact. Unfortunately no 18350 tube option (you could mod the stock tube yourself though). You can get the bare host but I’d recommend getting the full light and further modding if you desire. I got the Osram green emitter and it’s a ton of fun.

I've found the C8+ to be a great host--fits in all my pockets yet still hits 900m with the Osram CSLNM1.

20mm LED and 22mm driver.

Great, thanks!

I have played with lots of C8’s. No C8+’s though. Might be an option.
I’m not a super big fan of the shape of the C8. Thin body and big head. haha. Great throwing body for it’s size.

I’ll second the Convoy M1 for compact, C8+ if you don’t mind the larger head.

That’s just the thing. I think the c8(+) head is a bit broad. I will definitively look into the M1.

Driver and LED plate size for the M1?
