I’m trying to put a red SBT 90 into a Convoy Z1. Is there a 22mm FET driver that would be suitable for this LED? The only one I can find is the Mountain Electronics FET + 7135, are there any others?
Convoy sell a 12A FET driver . Luminus mention 13.5A, so you won’t get max output, but 12A isn’t bad.
I think it will be hard to find a driver to run it at max.
I would be careful with linear driver (like this FET driver).
Red LED has lower Vf than white.
It means that efficiency will be low and lot of heat generated in driver because it needs to drop more voltage.
If you ok with lower current I would try something like this (8A buck)
The red SBT 90’s “max” VF is 3.6V at 13.5a, but the typical VF is 2.7v, so wouldn’t the buck driver harm the LED? If it would be fine, I wouldn’t mind just using that driver and doing a resistor mod for more current, but I’m not sure if it would be good for it or not.
