Sunwayman D40A from Dointoutdoor....NOT happy with what I got

If I paid good money for a brand-name flashlight, I’d expect nothing less than top-notch quality.
SWM is well-known for its anodizing, fit and finish and generally accepted as a premium brand.
I’m thinking counterfeit product :expressionless:

Possible. The anodizing feels cheap sort of like my clone SRK. The anodization on my solarforce L2P feels far superior. That or Bill sent me B stock hoping I won’t notice…

He offered a $5 discount but no way am I accepting that. I won’t even pay half of what I paid for this junk and have told him I’ll accept no less than 50% refund. That or I send it back and he pays for shipping.

The driver would be difficult to fake and easy to uncover if they tried. I suppose a quality reject is the same as counterfeit. Either way, it shouldn't have been sold to you as the real deal.

Well after much argument I got a $7 refund…so at least I got that going for me.

I tried to clean the lens with a microfibre cloth but now it’s worse perhaps. It feels cloudy (only when the light is on)

Is the lens supposed to be glass ? This one feels like plastic.

You accepted $7 on a $50+ light? If its garbage, I’d rather not get any discount and get a fully satisfactory item for the full price.

How awful. :frowning: This is really not acceptable. I hope you resolve the matter!

I would reccomend avoiding doingoutdoor.com

Bill may seem like a nice guy but I did not get good support. $7 refund on a $54 light which has too many issues…

I was able to fix the square metal piece at least. I had to put a slight bend in it to seat it right. It basically curves slightly now. Feels fine.

Just needs some grease now.

Any pictures? Curious to see what it looks like.

No, not worth my time now.

Not even to satisfy the curiosity of a fellow BLF member? The dust sounds quite bad.

Yeah, please post pictures so others can see, its not normal to receive messed up light and get 7$ refund.

Wow.

Sorry to hear about your dusty D40a.

I received a Sunwayman C20C a few days ago and was pretty impressed with the build quality. Absolutely zero dust on the lens and reflector. It looked like it was assembled in a clean room. The o-rings were also nicely lubed.

Hum yeah pics? Or is it a post just to disrepute a dealer?

What MountainKing said could have some truth…

And the L2P looks fine in this thread….maybe except for the color mismatch with the tailcap

Seems like you are ruining dealer’s reputation unless they give you a refund on a perfectly good light? Not cool if that is the case.

Seems like someone semi scamming vendors for getting partial refunds and maybe using thread like these to pressure vendors to get them a partial refund or something.
I think there should be a rule to have pics up when people accuse vendors. Its too easy to accuse and not post any proof.

Your links speak for itself regarding the complainer, for that matter. This is unfair to the dealer. This doesn’t look good at all.

+ 1000 !

Well, he might have gotten(sp?) crappy lights and knowing that some of us do get picky and sellers try to avoid responsibility here and there, some overblown drama might help when dealing with fishy no-coop aftersales support…
Been there with cheapies from Ebay, some I wouldnt make a fuss about today.

Seems the “budget” lights are not for him. I zoomed in on that solarforce pic and I do not see anything wrong with it.
Unfortunately he never posted pics of the others to see the “horrible” craftsmanship.

Sounds like you possibly got a fake? Bought my FLAWLESS D40A from Illumination Supply several months ago. Also got a C10R from goinggear, also flawless. Can't imagine Sunwayman selling second rate products, even at a discount. I'd rather pay a little more and know I'm covered by a USA authorized seller if something's wrong. Both Illumination Supply and GoingGear rock when it comes to customer service. No shipping back to China if I have a problem.
