Glued
Yup. These are glued. I damaged mine taking it apart.
:-/ what can i do about it?
and few pics, beam is ringy…
DC-Fix it .
well this suck :-/
i chose this light based on some reviews wich showed the head comes off.
sorry, what?
dc fix ….
I still have a little left if anyone wants some …just pm me
wow nice stuff,
problem is i can’t take the head off, and for some reason i dont feel like apply it on the out side of the lens.
and TBH i like the throw of this light, even if its ringy.
thank you.
Some glues can be weakened by boiling in a ziplock bag. Don’t know about this one though.
Yeah, the TK703 is quite a micro-thrower but does have a ringy beam which is why I’m gifting mine to a friend who has no micro-sized lights and liked it anyway. Not much high-output runtime on the small cell either which is why I switched to the EO9 for my EDC. Less pure throw but a much nicer and more usable beam with lower modes for better runtime. The TK703 is also one of the slimmest AAA format high-performance lights there is.
A better reflector might make it into the world’s smallest pocket-rocket but I’ve gone to larger lights for throw as they hugely out-perform this one. It’s a nice light other than the ringy beam-
are you listening “Tank”? Y’all can do better than this!
Phil
Unfortunately, ringiness is a side-effect of the emitter being used, combined with the small SMO reflector. It’s a sacrifice to get the superb amount of throw this tiny single-AAA light produces.
Off with his head!
thanks for all the comments,
i just got the E09 today from banggood, and i like it way more then the 703, so i will give the 703 to my brother
only thing i missing is a clips, (a friend want a clips) so ill wait for the GB GB
but again. the E09 is realy nice light, i dont even think ill mod it, just love it as is, even with a crappy AAA battery, (ordered some 10440 and some eneloops >-) )
all the tanks suffer from ringyiness and low frequency pwm. on one of my 566 tanks i have added a small round dot of dc fix dead center of the lens that takes out a few outer rings but leaves the throw alone.
you’d think it would be the opposite … The xpg-2 and the nichia 219A both came out ringy , the nichia got full coverage dc fix and the xpg2 nw got the centered 1/4 inch dot .
i’ll agree the 701’s are seemingly welded shut … I have never had one apart .tank likes using thread lock. All of my 566’s opened pretty easily but the 701,703,eo8 welded
its actualy make sense, the reflector is the one responsible to create the hotspot.
and its position relative to the LED is from the sides (around the LED, not in front)
but yea, i know what you mean, can be confusing 8-|
What about the TEVA-method? (AKA: use the sole of your slippers).
Not a chance. This tank light is glued shut VERY aggressively. I was finally able to wrench mine open with Channellock pliers, damaging the knurling and finish on the light badly. My recommendation is to leave this light sealed as it performs very well with the factory driver, and only open it if essential due to a failed driver or emitter.
hey guys, i’m new to the site. i just purchased the tk703. i have a couple of questions…can i use a 3.7v 10440 battery? and what kind of lumen increase can i expect from the 120 rating for aaa?
thx in advace you guys seem like a great community
Yes, can use the Lithium 10440. The light is MUCH brighter from Lithium, but I don’t have an actual lumen measurement to compare.
wellcome!
as far as i know the tk703 and the E09 can take 10440. i didn’t try it yet tho, my battery still in the mail.
i orderd Soshine AAA /10440 LiFePO4 Battery: 3.2V 280mAh aswell, so abit less hit
