I thought I’d add a little bit about the Fireflies Lantern Kit that’s available for the NOVMU, X4 and E04 Surge as it’s not just a diffuser, it’s a well crafted and thought out accessory.
I hadn’t realised until @Boaz asked me some more questions about it that there is an internal 180° mirror. Boaz had wondered if painting the underside of the shade white would improve performance, but I told him it’s flexible rubber and unscrewed the whole thing.
Diffusion tube is threaded at both ends, so fit to the light is totally secure. The diffuser tube really whitens the light a lot, and despite my 1800K emitter I’m going to cut a bit of the Boaz supplied yellow filter film and curl it inside to bring the colour temp to paraffin lamp/candle colour.
Cool now you got me reading a thread I’d missed…
The above discussion about mules and tint on emitters and pics isn’t fair unless you level the playing field .
If you diffuser all the emitters with a really good diffuser you will see what’s really coming out of the light .
Canngas pic with 4 lights isn’t fair to the ones with the tighter hot spots . There are too many nice colors in the spill and nastier ones in almost everyone’s hot spot .
Otoh we are talking about known quality tints here too .
I could tell immediately that this lantern was brilliant . Takes having straight sided diffusers to keep it from becoming massively glaring and hard to even be around.
Ask me how I know
The old Eveready flashlight has a hidden surprise inside … let’s see who can spot the one thing here that just doesn’t belong .
That’s just a red top off of a V-8 juice bottle . A cheesy way to do a quick red light . It’s there because it fit so tightly on the ThorFire TK4A I just left it .
I’ve got a pair of theTK4A’s and the plastic votive candle diffuser makes them a really nice light .
It has a great moon , a nice switch and a big gaping hole on the tail that takes a big rubberized magnet that was made to at tech your phone to your dashboard .
That’s not the hidden part of this pic ….
Got the base for this kit yesterday and the quality is way up there with the lantern. Really heavy hard acrylic base. I chose clear but there are blue and green GITD bases too. In the bottom is a serious magnet that hangs onto the removable ring magnet in the tailcap of the NOV-Mu. Also, a really nice touch is a rubbery adhesive sticker, so this could easily make a nice ceiling light (campervan, garden shed, cupboard etc).
