I ordered a couple of these and I read mooch’s review. I was wondering if anyone is using them and what your opinion or results are?
Just some numbers with an actual light.
It looks like the early results are very promising.
90% of my flashlights are throwers and use a lot of amps on turbo and high for a few of them. I’m replacing all of my 21700 batteries with more appropriate cells . I’m replacing some of my 18650 batteries as well.
Which 18650 are tabless?
Sure. I run the test for each battery several times so IMHO it is likely Tenpower 50XG is among the most powerful (high drain) batteries on the market. At least with my 2 samples and tested with this method anyway.
This place has a few tabless 18650 batteries. An ampace and EVE but I can’t remember the specifics.
I run a discharge test on all my new batteries and check the internal resistance but that’s all I can really do. I have a liitokala 600 and it’s pretty accurate but I give it about 3% +/- when the test is done. I have an opus C3400 but the fan blew out and so I don’t use it anymore.
That site diy500amp checked IR in one of their youtube videos:
Tenpower 50GX: 2.75 mOhm
Pre Production 50PL: 3.13
Production 50PL: 3.32
Reliance: 3.26
The guy who owns it, is a really dedicated battery person.
EVE 30PL.
Let me introduce myself.
My name is Nelvick Berrios, owner of DIY500AMP.com and a long-time member of this forum from years back.
I am definitely a flashlight enthusiast, and also very involved in the battery side of things. I work extensively with high-current lithium cells, testing, building, and supplying them for different applications.
Glad to be back and looking forward to contributing again.
Hi there and welcome. I noticed you have many youtube videos on batteries. I think there is strong interest in battery in this forum and no frequent professional poster, so probably a good idea to create a “DIY500AMP” thread in Commercial Seller’s Category (like Convoy thread) and post them to share your work. Drums up interest and free advertisement, and followers, for your business.
.
Hi cannga, thank you for the warm welcome and the suggestion. I appreciate it.
That is a good idea. I agree there seems to be strong interest in batteries here, especially high-current cells and real-world testing. I will look into creating a DIY500AMP thread in the Commercial Seller’s section and share my work there in a more organized way.
My main goal is to contribute useful data, testing, and experience, and if it helps others while also bringing visibility to what I do, even better. Thanks again for the recommendation.
I trust mooches testing. He said that the 50 XG are slightly better than the 50pl, JP 50 P1 and the reliance RS 50.
I bought five of these xg’s. I also have the other batteries mentioned except for the rs50.
They went out of stock quickly in a couple places like 18650 battery store. But they will get them soon. They are like a $1.20 cheaper than DIY 500 amp and the shipping is cheaper also.
As far as performance they seem to work very well. I don’t have the equipment to test the lumens or cds. They capacity was about where it should be.
