Test/Review of Charger LiitoKala Engineer Lii-500

Dumb question, but do you wait all the way until charger displays END before you pull the batteries out?

Yes.
I only get a error screen then it goes blank when I put a battery in that’s charged over 4.0v according to my other voltmeters.

If the voltage is low enough to be recognized end shows up at 3.8v on my other voltmeters.I have other pics that show end but I have to find them.
ETA: found one.

Hmmmmm, something ain’t right… that’s for sure. :open_mouth: …… (I say, stating the obvious… .)

Pete7874,

Just a thought. Did you flip the circuit board over and see if there are any electronics (potentiometer) on the other side? Although, one of would think that something like that, they would make it a bit more accessible.

Help.
Hello,
I was wondering for those that have the lii-500; if it has given you any troubles? I have the lii-260 and it worked out well so I purchased two lii-500. The past several times that I have used them, some my batteries are getting fried / killed.
I took both of them apart and from my old eyes, I would say that one or two resistors are dead (same component in both units).

If you have time (and still have the unit), would you mind opening it up and see if you can see if the same components are in the same condition as mine or are they nice and clean. And if they are clean, can you tell me the values? I’m going to guess 102 and 103 based on the values from battery slot 1 & 2.

— how do you insert (embed) images with links to google drive – ?? The above links didn’t work. I had to save them as plain text for the links to show up. When I did the other methods, they just show up as “generic image icons”.

No potentiometers in mine.
I suppose the voltages are controlled by software and/or resistors.

If the charger uses pulses maybe the horrible fright meter doesn’t measure the peak, only some kind of average?

I was going to ask if people were having any troubles with their 500’s b/c I own one that works very well ( I will test the batteries to see if they are being short charged or not) but I am concerned that we might go into a trade war with China so I wanted to buy a second 500 before the taxes make it more expensive.

I wanted to also ask if their might be a newer version on the horizon. Maybe I should wait for the next version? Any news on this?

Lii-500 does not use pulses.

My Lii 500’s work just fine… as I think most people’s do. Not sure what point Danglerb was trying to bring up or make on a 4 month dead thread. Pay little attention though…. the Lii 500 is still going strong. :+1:

I think I had two tabs open and crossed the posting after looking at a discussion of the opus charger.

I sometimes resemble that statement……

I charged 3 Lithium batteries two 16340’s and one 18350 then I poped them into my Nitecore D2 and they all read finished so there was no room for additional charge. I then took 6 Duracell rechargeable AA’s and they all spent additional time in Nitecore after coming out of the 500. But I tested the AA’s after they finished in the 500 and then after coming out of the Nitecore and the multi meter reading didn’t change. So I have no idea why the AA’s had to spend more than 30 minutes in the Nitecore.

??? Me either. Next time try popping them back in the Lii 500 and see what happens.

As per HKJ test, this charger isn’t the greatest for nimh batteries as it undercharges them somewhat. I only use the lii500 for charging li-ions.

The lii500 currently in production have inside technology back-ported from lii400, which is described in HKJ test of that charger. In my experience lii500 is capable of very accurate filling of NiMH batteries, without under- or overcharging even in most difficult cases which other charges cannot handle properly.

So I expect this North Korea thing is going to cause some problems with trading with China. So I want to pick up an additional charger as a back up. I like my Lii-500 b/c I can test battery capacity. So do I buy a second one as back up or is there a Lii-600 (?) about to be released and I should wait for that one? Anyone have an idea on a new Lii or another charger that is even better in the same price range?

When you look at HKJ’s review of Lii-400, it states:

So, I’m not sure how this is any better than Lii-500…

Zanflare C4. Seems to be almost identical to the Li500 but the IR apparently works. HKJ has a test of it. I have one in transit but no personal experience yet.
