From where I stand, I'd agree. In the 1950's a Hungarian politician said to our conservative (Think right-wing) Prime Minister that he was far too left-wing for their (nominally communist) country.
Then it all changed with that awful woman in 1979. I have never forgiven my brother for escorting her with a sword in his hand on the occasion of her Sermon on the Mound and not using it on the $£%%^&*
CPF seems to me to be the Tea Party playing with lights.
Political ancestors of mine fought in Spain against the Fascists in the 1930's - CPF's ancestors cheered Franco on.
I for one am very glad you're here! You're not the only househusband! Same boat for me except my disability is mental health related. Real role reversal... women get the good jobs now anyway. I kept working and just got worse and worse... finally had to quit. No one here ever made me feel unwelcome... I like that!
Same treatment on CPF re: budget lights. Right away you get marginalized, sent to the back of the bus if you don't spend $500 on a 1AAA pocket light.
Welcome s1mp13m4n to BLF ! Nice to have you join us.
I understand that a few of us can relate to encountering snobby responses on other forums. I know that I found when I enthusiastically shared my discoveries about finding great gear at a good value, I got heckled.
However, getting mocked for a disability is just plain wrong. I think admins on some forums have been known to ban people for far less offenses.
Anyway, lets hope all that nonsense is now in the past. You're among friends here!
Thanks a lot for the kind words and for the encouragement. :) Yeah my wife is on the way to a nursing career and we have a two year old daughter and also live with my mother and step dad. It can be hard to have the roles reversed but I have a wonderful and supportive wife and she does not mind being the break winner. I also know that it does not make me any less of a man. :) It is nice to have friends here who help me enjoy this great hobby on a budget that I can afford. :)
When on a budget it can seem like everything is a potential sales pitch. But there's so many ways to enjoy this hobby. It can involve much more than just buying new nights. There's many great things to enjoy that don't involve buying more lights. For example, over the past year I've found I've much to learn about:
battery curves, testing milliamp consumption, performing run time tests, reading light levels using only an SLR camera, measuring throw, writing reviews, taking photos for reviews, and forum discussions. Because of the recommendations of people on this forum I even got into making a joule thief circuit using scrap parts.
Made 2 or 3 practice posts and got angry PM from mods NOT TO FLOOD in practice area...
The other place seems also be down ~3-5 times a week. ( most of you are sleeping then )
Here everything is put to somewhat reasonable perspective.
Somewhere else you usually get a tip to buy the most expensive, since it has to be the best. Whats the point if everything is so easy? :D I have also noticed, that here people can add links to sales-sites without getting banned :D
