hey all ~ since 2016 rapidly coming to a close, thought now might a good time for members to chime in based on experience on what has become one of the more popular form factors for flashlights in recent memory (not to mention the crowded market that seems to have sprung up around these lights) ; the Soda Can (or "Pop Can as some like to call them) style flashlights. was hoping that those out there who have been running/using/EDC-ing some of these compact monsters could voice their overall best picks for Soda-Can (or Pop-Can) style flashlights, the criteria being ; Best Re-chargeable and Best Non-rechargeable. other factors such as Max Lumens & Color Tint, with or without Lanyard, general Heat Observations & experience with run-times & overall reliability of the model flashlight would no doubt be most helpful to those of us interested in purchasing this style of flashlight. ALL input Most Appreciated !
I have 2 pop can lights and like both very much. The first is our own BLF Q8. This thing puts out a massive amount of light with a beam that has a perfect tint and is a great combination of flood and throw. For pure throw, I have a ThruNite TN4A with the XPL HI emitter giving 52,304cd and 457m of throw on 4 AA batteries. Pretty amazing.
Regards,
Frank A.
hey Frank ~ yes i have read the reviews on the BLF Q8 and it certainly seems like an excellent choice, i am hoping to pick up one of those quite soon, if you might know, where would be the best place to get one ? the ThruNite TN4A looks quite promising also, i will read more in detail about it. being a fan of ThruNite myself (i have the Ti3 and the Ti4 in NW and both have been very reliable), im sure it would be a worthwhile choice as well !
Thorfire TK4A. Still kicking myself for getting only 2 when they were 15bux a pop.
Load ’em up with eneloops, and…
Sofirn SF11, essentially the same as the TK4A, still in production, I think. At least I know it’s being sold on AX.
whoa ...only $ 15, sorry i missed out on that one too ! yes, i am liking the Sofirn quality on their recent lights, will certainly check that SF11 out. thanks much Lightbringer !
personally i really like the look & design of the Manker MK41 ( http://goinggear.com/manker-mk41-4-x-aa-14500-1500-lumen-cree-xhp35-hi-cool-white-led-flashlight.html ), a shame that it seems to have been discontinued / unavailable for purchase. hoping that possibly Manker is continuing production of this model with an up-dated version.
