Quite possibly right, partly down to the 4000K Nichia being very warm, but also the hotspot spreads widely and evenly. There’s no way it’s a thrower in any pracrical sense, my D3AAs throw as far, the one fitted with SFT-25R throws further on stock optic.
I’ve decided like it, it’s a great mid range light with a lovely even hotspot, and the Nichia is a great choice of emitter for it.

Apologies, mine is the FW1AA, not this triple. No way the triple is going to throw any distance.
