In the scheme of the many things in today’s news our battery concerns seem petty.

Between our concerns and and manufacturers this problem will be solved. Already some manufacturers are selling flashlights with batteries already installed with a safety film over the positive terminal.

What I hope not to see is an increase in propitiatory batteries being sold with new flashlights.

Outside world (other forums) think we are crazy flashaholics anyway

Propitiatory batteries - in this competitive world we are living in manufacturers simply cannot afford that risk IMHO.

Won’t happen. Lawyers and idiots rule. Common sense doesn’t count any more.
So unprotected cells of the “big 4” will disappear from the legal markets. Chinese nonames will fill the void. Is that safer? I dare say not. Crazy wold.

Endorsing such beliefs, it may never happen. It's all about loving and enlightening.

If people wants something, let's serve them. We should patiently enlighten them into being fully responsible beings. And this is both towards the ones “below” and the ones “above”.

The big ones may also need help, lawyers need help. We need fairer legal systems, focusing responsibilities properly.

At least there are some chinese manufacturers starting to gain momentum, which is great (see the OEM behind the LiitoKala 26650s and the Soshine NCR26650s).
