Then you need to calculate needed Rsense. I don’t know what sense resistor 6V is 4A driver has, but if it’s R050 then calculation is like this:
U=RI
U=50mOhm*4A
U=200mV
From there you can calculate needed R for 7A
200mV=R*7A
R=200mV/7A
R=28.6mOhm.
So you need to swap in R025 for bit over 7A or R030 for bit under it. I think they are 1206 sized current sense resistors. Available from Digikey also.
im ordering in a d4s with 6volt driver to make a 3500k sliced dome 50.3 build. just for fun, bc hanks boost driver will be prohibitive for output of course. I really want to make one of the freemans 42w drivers for it, but time is prohibitive. i ahve so many mods already to do lol. Not enough hours in the week.
It’s definitely not the first (original D series, M43, etc), but it’s the first in quite a few years.
I trust Hank to make a good light, if anything it reminds me of the Maglite Solitaire. I’ll probably get two or 3 depending on price (519a 5700k dd, w1, 519a 3500k d)
The DQG Tiny AAA IV had an interesting tail design which could tail-stand and be on a keychain at the same time. I’ve never seen another light use that design though. Basically, the tail end of the light has a raised “O” shape around the edge. A small ring goes through a hole in the wall, and it can flop to either side where it fits into a notch. That allows it to lay flat for tail-standing without removing it from a keyring.
OTOH, if the info I saw is correct and this is a 2A 1-mode driver, it wouldn’t be suitable for tail-standing even if it had a stable base, because it would get too hot. That would be like 700 lumens for 9 minutes… and for tail-standing (or a keychain light in general), I’d much rather have 7 lumens for 900 minutes.
You can source the xhp50.3 HI from mouser, they have lots of them down to 2700K and 95cri. I’m currently using a 4500K 80cri HD which I dedomed to give a lovely tint. Its much easier with the .3 series compared to .2
I was specifically referring to the 3v variant of XHP50.3HI, otherwise my go-to is usually just buying emitters from Convoy. Shipping is very expensive if I buy from Mouser/Digikey
Seconding D4K (and other lights) in red anodizing, it is such a vibrant color on my D2 (and a few other lights). Only colors that in my experience come close in vibrancy and depth are Convoy’s orange and purple anodizing, and the blue on my fireflies T1R.
