The There Are No Stupid Questions Thread

UK, but they ship to most parts of Europe. Great selection of batch tested batteries.

Thanks, but unfortunately UK is like the US, nowadays…
The customs mafia wants their share, and they are killjoys, making you wait long times and then charging impossible amounts for “processing fees”.
I used to buy quite a lot from the UK, but no more for this reason.
I recently read stories of expats’ kids getting presents from their grandparents residing in the UK, generally toys or books, and then the parents in Spain getting charged a 100 or plus euros for said presents worth 10 or 15 quid

It’s usually easier for me to order from China than the UK. Lower shipping, sometimes faster shipping (however that works), and most Chinese shops support IOSS (pre-paid taxes at checkout, no holdup, fees or checks at customs) while few UK based shops do.

Especially the lack of IOSS is a dealbreaker - leads to extra fees and long additional wait times.

I used to live in San Jose, California.
I visited San Francisco once, and saw a store with that title, and was shocked.
The title “actually means “French Connection UK”, but it’s also a misspelling of the most vulgar expletive – and such ambiguity is relevant.” :upside_down_face:

I can hear the customs agents now…
“Oy! wuts-iss, 'en? All be tey-kin me cot, den, innit? Roy’t 'en, piss-awn-awf, kerry awn.”

Been playing around with my recently acquired KR1AA and I guess this is more of a anduril 2 question as I’m quite new to it. And I apologize if this has been covered before. What is the point of momentary mode (5C) when 2H in lockout mode does the same exact thing and I don’t have to worry about unscrewing to get out of it like momentary mode?

One use, Morse code. 2H wouldn’t work for that.

More practical for my lifestyle, give it to a kiddo at bedtime on momentary on a very low brightness. They can play with it while falling asleep, but because it requires you to hold the button it will turn off when they finally fall asleep.

Your ire is misplaced here. If what you’re saying is true then it’s the Spanish authorities charging the import fees, not the UK.

Sure, my ire is against the Spanish customs.
I can see stuff arrives in this country and then gets stopped forever somewhere, until a Spanish paper arrives with the postman who is asking for money, cash.

Yeah I guess that is the safest mode for a kid. For Morse code and SOS, 6C tactical mode is another option.

Should I contact the FBI about my dream?

In all my dreams, I’m just getting chased by robots… terminator robots.

I wonder if they had anything to do with the case?

They already know, and you should be embarrassed.

There are so many LEDs here that I’m not familiar with.

Out of all the LEDs listed below which one has the best combination of output and throw. Sort of like the SBT 90.2 of all the LEDs listed.

It is For an Emisar D1K.
I am guessing that the XHP70.3 HI 6500 is a good choice??
Thx.

I’d take the SFT42R, which is more than half of an SBT90.2 in performance and should get you around 700m of ANSI throw at 3000lm. In such a compact host, you need a reasonably small emitter to get good throw without draining the battery in a matter of minutes.

Agreed, or w2 maybe.

Can I use this Anker charger to charge a 46950 battery. The battery will be in the Lumintop Mach.. I hook up the USB and plug this into the wall instead of what they give me? I can tell you it takes 2 hours using this to charge the x75. That’s not bad at all.
I took some pictures cuz there’s so much information on it. Probably the most important is it 65 Watts.

Thx.

EDIT: I just saw a review of this light that it takes 11 and 1/2 hours to charge with the charger they give you. I think it’s 4 amps. He also said with a 65 watt fast charger, that’s what my Anker is, it took eight in a half hours. I’m surprised it took that long. Because 8* 4200mAh( P42A) that is what the BP8 is, … we will call that 32,000 milliamp hours. Same capacity as 46950,That only takes 2/ 2 hours 15 minutes. Maybe because they are parallel?

typically, a well designed smart/IQ charging circuit will give the devices what’s needed. I don’t know exactly how it works, but generally, if it is a modern power bank and a modern plug, it’ll charge.

32000mAh, is it arranged 8p, 2s4p, or some other config? in any case it’s limited to whatever the circuit dictates. I suppose that in the 46950 cell, it’s designed to take almost the full 65W…3.7V nominal × 14.222A, ~52W. if we assume 16A instead of 14.222A, then almost 60W.

HOWEVER, based on that charger’s specs, the most it’s rated for at a single port is 40W, so whatever voltage and amperage its pushing would probably take longer than 2 hours to charge.

it ultimately boils down to how the charger, charging circuit, line power, and cell play together.
