The There Are No Stupid Questions Thread

Yes, but it is peculiar that the button top H10 works fine in some of the TS10s that I have had. Especially the early V1 ones.

For the others I found and bought flat top H10 cells…. Over time though I have gotten to where I use the F15 cells in my EDC TS10 V1…

With turbo disabled and top of ramp set to 120/150. No problems at all. That light has been in my pocket for most days over the last three years.

Honestly though, I seldom use the light at much over half ramp. If I need more light, I grab a bigger flashlight.

Just for reference, I have had something like 25 TS10s go through my hands. Most gifted out. But I still have quite a few.

Would this be a comparable substitute for H10?

For a T6 btw.

The H10 was 1000mAh and 10A, K10 1000mAh 8A, so the 650mAh+6,5A is quite a bit weaker

Same with the other cell - the F15 is 1500mAh and 3A against the 1100mAh and 3,5A

But is it safe to use. I assumed it was because i ordered a couple.

Oh, then depends on the light ultimately, if it uses more than 6,5A and 3,5A at max and if You plan to use that max. Both cells are protected so You might trip the protection circuit if You exceed their rating. And if I recall correctly the T6 has a 5A driver?

Yes and i think my problem is I’m not sure what the difference is between continuous and max discharge.

Do these specify max current? Continuous means the cell can work at that current for long periods, max is ok for a short time, don’t remember off the top of my head, but something like 15-30s maybe

Just a pesonal definition, but for me, a max continuous designation would be:

“At that discharge level for up to 30% cumulatively of the capacity of that cell.”

If a manufacturer says “peak discharge”, it should be able to handle spikes to that level. If it says “max continuous discharge”, then it should be able to sustain that level until at or near empty.

The way the site lists it is shady, in my opinion…why “(max)” if “continuous”, why not “max continuous” instead? I dunno, best bet is to contact nitecore directly and find out.

Should have just got the k10s, but oh no i gotta be different.

Lol…if you won’t be using turbos, then a protected cell might arguably be better/safer

Broke down and ordered the K10’s to be safe.

Sometimes cells are listed with a continuous rating and a peak current level with a max temperature limit.

It sure would be nice if there was some standardization.

I agree thx for the help tho.

That shop You showed has mixed up description for the NL1411R. If You look at the following link Nitecore NI14500A 14500 650mAh Battery
You can see they copied the specs from it, a different cell altogether, not Your fault, I would take it up with the shop and ask for a refund/return

Can anyone recommend your fav battery website?

In no particular order. I have had great experiences with all of them. I usually find availability then the best price and go with that. Don’t forget shipping cost though. Maybe one of the reasons that I have way too many cells is that I buy a bunch to save on the shipping cost per cell.

Thanks again.

Instead, can anyone recommend their favorite battery website, but in Europe?

I found one in the Netherlands a while ago, but four 18650 would have cost 40€ in shipping!
In the end I went the Aliexpress route and waited almost three weeks to get them.

Don’t need it right now, it’s just one of those things I would like to know to save it for the future.

I am in Spain, if that matters.
Thanks

I have used them a few times. Other than the long shipping times to the US they were good. I see lots of folks around here that have used and recommended them.

That’s fantastic, thanks!
