The There Are No Stupid Questions Thread

do your convoys have forward or reverse clickies?

**just for reference https://youtu.be/9sx46RX6KtI?si=qhxiqZfkbbrnn61Q

Reverse, modes are selected after click.

the next statement after the partially quoted post would be more applicable to that situation, lol.

As far as the quoted portion, it still holds true…

Ok thx man

In that video I linked, the creator was able to make a taller forward clicky replacement for the reverse clicky, so that might be an option if you don’t like reverse clickies or vice versa…I believe convoy sells either option, in similar sizes.

Thanks for all the replies about ‘momentary-ON’ re: forward clicky switches everyone. Very helpful.

You can get a light with a FC switch like a Pokomon 2AA, or some lights with eswitches can do that.

Eg, my GTmicro lets you 5click into momentary mode. Any press turns it on, releasing turns it off. Unscrew/rescrew the tailcap a turn or so to snap it back to regular mode.

What light(s) are comparable and competes with the X65 Mini(10K L/ ~500Kcd)?

Has anybody done a written review of the Lumintop MACH 3.0?

I haven’t seen it anywhere. When Googled it just has some video reviews mostly beam shots.

For those of you that are building your own drivers, and doing fine work etc, what are you using for magnification so you can see everything? I have been looking for an excuse to buy an LCD microscope for quite a while now. Especially since my eyes are getting worse with age.

I have no doubts that we are most certainly NOT alone.

I am not as convinced. Until some extraterrestrial gives me an anal probe, I am assuming Earth has the only life in the universe.

That reminds me: I have to make an appointment to get my prostate checked. I have a wonderful doctor who has very long, skinny fingers and his index finger even lights up so he can see what he is doing.

Ain’t that somethin’

I miss shake lights. are there any super rugged shakelights? I used to have a JDM nightstar, but the cap failed in it…but at the time being young and dumb I took it apart for the magnet.

So…Does anyone still know of a decent shakelight that’s pretty easy to convert to warm white Yuji’s? Or will I have to attempt a sure to fail homebrew?

**followup question, if I were to add either more twists on one wind stack (OR a longer stack), or multiple parallel wind stacks with diodes, which setup would charge the capacitor more quickly given the same amount of wire in either setup? Less effort for more charge is better, so I figure 3x the coils per shake pass, around 1/3 the charging time?

I bought fake shakelights off the street æons ago. Powered by a coin cell, steel slug for a “magnet”, dummy single-layer coil of wire.

I just stuffed a set of sub-C NiCd cells inside, a real coil of wire in the tail, and diode, in parallel with the cells. The beastie was an almost perfect fit for my Sonicare toofbrush, and used that as a trickle-charger.

Worked great, and still got it… somewhere. (Got 2, only converted 1.)

They don’t make em anymore me thinks. Just never caught on haha. I don’t knowucj about them. They basically power forever as long as you shake it? Good if you’re stuck on a deserted island with no spare batterys I guess. I have one of those wind up lights that came with the vehicle emergency kit I bought. Pre blf/CPF days or even before I knew much about lights, my friend invited me to try airsoft for the first time. Told me to bring a flashlight since it would be dark cooridors and that was the only one I had. I should have checked with him first. Tactical stealth and loud wind up noise definitely don’t go together. Got shot up pretty good but not because of the light but just being a noob.

Edward Elizabeth Hitler is alive and well. Unfortunately we lost Rik Mayall.

I caught this story on a recent The Daily Show…
“Hittler and Zielinski go to war … for French mayoralty”

Does anyone rewrap their 14500 cells? Where do you find wraps for them? I have hundreds of cell wraps for 18650 and 21700, but I can’t find any for AA/14500. I’m guessing that AliEx might have some in a big roll, but I haven’t ordered off there since last year.

Does anyone have recommendations?

I have used a trimmed 18650 wrap on a 14500 before, in an “emergency,” but it leaves excess around the diameter and won’t fit into some lights.

A lot of my H10 wraps are torn so I haven’t been using them. They’re all years old and I haven’t had a single issue from them.

(I see you posted this back in February, so the info may be too late for you, but here it is)

Emisar D2 Dual Channel version is very floody and an excellent light. It only works with LiIon, and only with Flat Top, unless you make a special request that it be built to work with button top, and then it also works with flat top (I choose this option so I can use Lumintop USB-C 14500 and Wurkkos 14500, but I do not recommend Vapcel button tops, they are too long).

Emisar offers warm LEDs including 1800K that I have not tried. I have 2700K and like it very much. on the second channel I have 660nm red, also like very much.

Emisar sells a headband that will work with the D2. They do not sell batteries.

Aliex has 14500 wraps.
