The wikipedia philiosophy thread

It has already been established that 94.52% of Wikipedia articles will get you to philosophy but i seem to come across articles that are worth conversation in their own right, and instead of creating a new thread for each one this catch all thread is for a new one each week (or whenever i remember or come across a good one)

Reminds me of a rube goldberg device, but has more implications (and even crosses into Schrodinger’s cat or the tree falling into the forest making a sound)

Turn it on and it turns itself off.

That would keep me entertained for hours.

Have you seen this one?

i did not know of that one, but makes me think of circular logic, which leads to the Pac man defense which leads to Economic interventionism and market failures. Systems thinking can get exhausting

But you got the joke right? You type in recursion and it says “did you mean recursion?” Only a programmer would laugh at that joke.

And yeah, some politicians are masters of circular reasoning.

i got the joke, google does some good ones, barrel roll and one does not simply walk into mordor are ones that comes to mind

You can say “OK Google what is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?”

Also try “Beam me up, Scotty”

Edit: And “What does the fox say?” Make sure to ask it that more than once.

I ask, "What do you get when you multiply six by nine."

(Most calculator get that one wrong.)
