It has already been established that 94.52% of Wikipedia articles will get you to philosophy but i seem to come across articles that are worth conversation in their own right, and instead of creating a new thread for each one this catch all thread is for a new one each week (or whenever i remember or come across a good one)
A useless machine or useless box is a device whose only function is to turn itself off. The best-known useless machines are those inspired by Marvin Minsky's design, in which the device's sole function is to switch itself off by operating its own "off" switch. Such machines were popularised commercially in the 1960s, sold as an amusing engineering hack, or as a joke.
More elaborate devices and some novelty toys, which have an obvious entertainment function, have been based on these simple useles...
Reminds me of a rube goldberg device, but has more implications (and even crosses into Schrodinger’s cat or the tree falling into the forest making a sound)

Turn it on and it turns itself off.
That would keep me entertained for hours.

Racer:
Have you seen this one?
i did not know of that one, but makes me think of circular logic , which leads to the Pac man defense which leads to Economic interventionism and market failures . Systems thinking can get exhausting

But you got the joke right? You type in recursion and it says “did you mean recursion ?” Only a programmer would laugh at that joke.
And yeah, some politicians are masters of circular reasoning.

You can say “OK Google what is the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow?”
Also try “Beam me up, Scotty”
Edit: And “What does the fox say?” Make sure to ask it that more than once.
Sharpie:
OK Google, what is the answer to life, the universe and everything ?
If I need a calculator, that’s what I ask
I ask, "What do you get when you multiply six by nine."
(Most calculator get that one wrong.)
