thermal paste

Hi does anone know if this is any good
http://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10002067/1148100-zp-silicone-heatsink-thermal-compound
thermal conductivity:>1.22w/m-k
thermal impedance :<0.201c-in2/w

Bump…

That looks like the typical white goop (non-adhesive) that you would get with a cheap heatsink. I prefer the stuff that comes in the 10-pack of small syringes from DX personally. Syringes makes it easier to dispense and store.

Most of my more expensive brand lights such as Eagletac use the “white non adhesive” type compound. I don’t know about thermal conductivity, but who needs them glued. The reflector holds them tightly in place, and you can easily remove them in the future.

Thermal paste generally does not have a really good thermal conductivity, but it works. Almost anything is fine, because you want to use as little as possible.. and its better than air.

Thermal paste is better than air, but it should replace the air not to be used in 2mm thick layers as I see some people use it, at that point to got yourself an insulator under the MCPCB.

As for 1.2W/m.k, that is poor, similar to thermal adhesives' thermal conductivity.

go to maplin, get some of the diamond liquid, its brush on (like a nail varnish bottle and the liquid is anout that consistency).

its got the highest thermal transfer rating of what they have in the shop, and you can have some tomorrow.

Hey Pilot, of the 3 compounds you suggest which one is the best in your opinion and how does it compare to arctic silver 5?

Thanks!

Found this extensive Thermal compounds test on another forum.
