I think they are meant to be ok actually. And good value for money.

There’s a thread somewhere on BLF about them. I think they have a hollow pill, so can get hot and likely aren’t the best host for modding. But for the money, out put and versatility they should be ok.

I have one on my ever growing ‘to-buy’ list. Just haven’t got around to getting one yet.

EDIT:

Forgot to say, part of the appeal has to be the use of AAA’s. Which means you can give it to someone who isn’t li-ion savvy.

It also won’t be making anywhere near 1800 lumens (probably 400-600). Will have a crap driver and PWM.

I have a few of these. They are not really worth the 15$ I spent on them. The heat-sink below the LED is hollow and the ones that I have do not focus consistently with the reflector. They also had bad battery contact on a couple of them. I would definitely not recommend these.

I bought one with some spare eBay bucks and even though it was free, the value is not there. My SC52 is brighter by a decent amount!

I have one and I do like it, plus your friend can sort out the hollow pill issue so that is not a worry, it’s certainly one to have imo, although I’ll probably change the driver to a qlite and fit a dedomed xp-g2 at some point.
