Manker is a highly underappreciated flashlight company. They make amazing products. No advertising, no discount codes, no nonsense. Just quality lights at a fair price.
I have a few MC13 II and don’t use them as much as I thought I would.
- the telescoping 18350/18650 tube, while clever, got gunk/grime in its inner workings and doesn’t lock nicely any more. It will also easily leak water.
- the 18350 config is the same weight as the 18650 config
- the 21700 tube has no retention options and is very slippery.
- I asked if a clip could mate to the 21700 tube, customer service told me to “find something on AE”. whatever
- the UI is a mess, can’t go directly from moon to main group
The telescoping battery tube is one issue. Another issue is that there nothing between 1.5lm and 300lm AFAIK. It has the same brightness/intensity an the regular MC13 II with SBT90.2. The round LED is the only difference of this model.
The first MC13, on the other hand: Nice design with two individual tubes, a great clip, easy to find tail switch and more modes to fill the gap. Also same brightness and intensity. All of that in 2021. No real improvement since then.
Looking at the graphs, then, I assume like the SBT90.2 it is direct drive with some temperature cut off…
Thank you for the review, does the extendable battery tube offer thread lock/o-rings in the extended position? I wonder if the light lands on the tail the 18650 battery would ram the circuit board possibly damaging it, Is the battery tube waterproof? I would love to see this light offered with Anduril 2.
I haven’t tested it in water with the tube extended, I’d say it’s okay for rain but I wouldn’t submerge it. There are springs on the head and tail so it should protect the driver.
