My review and teardown of the Thorfire PF04 x2 AAA penlight
Provided by Thorfire for review
My review will be pictures but before that I Will give a brief summary
The PF04 is really nice quality, same anodising level as the Thorfire C8s/ Convoys. it does seem to have more of a sheen to it though, compared to the matt anodising.
I don’t like the levels Moonlight-High-Low, maybe useful in a penlight for some? but i would prefer Moon-Low-High
Insides
The MCPCB is aluminium, I forgot to measure but its 8/10mm
The driver is Potted, measures 11.79mm (cheap caliper)
I did manage to break off part of the driver because it was potted, and don’t have much time to fix it!
The driver is 2 boards
The pill is brass and is threaded, screws straight in and out, there was some residue on the threads, not sure if its ‘leakage’ from the potted driver or thread locker
The glass is AR coated
All in all a nice quality light, but the modes order does let it down!
Thanks! It looks sooo much better than the Olight-O-Pen, but I do not like the mode order either. did you manage to measure the light levels and possible PWM frequency before you broke it ;-)
I was approached by Thorfire here recently, (within the last few days). They are interested in learning more about how to make good quality lights and ways to improve on the designs. I am willing to work with them and hopefully, it will lead to a Unique new light for BLF and in the process, both they and I can learn some new things.
They seem eager to learn and I've got lots of time, so hopefully, in a few months, something will come out of it.
Saypat,
That url has been active since September 10th. Long enough for 2 reviews to be made. It just wouldn’t show up in a search because it was a new product not in stock yet.

Hmmm, guess that ‘armed guard job’ didn’t pan out?
[/quote]
Nope, it didn't. I ended up right back in the same place that I got laid off from. After Carrier closed, a slum landlord bought the property and Trane leased it from him. Trane is Carrier's competition, who also has a plant in Tyler and they moved to Mexico and then moved back. Now they want more storage, so they are storing AC units i the old Carrier plant and I am sitting in the same guard shack, with the same gate closed and no one here, but for a different guard company.

Life is full of ironic and comic moments.

I liked the beam shots you took in the empty factory, so fire some up!
As far as being back at your old job location, As I like to say “You can’t make this sheeet up”
At least you know the way there and the lay of the land
Later,
Keith
It does have some features that resembles the MT06, only thing is that it is much better for having a moonlight. Mode order is bit weird, I could go with L-ML-H or ML-L-H but I really don’t understand their reasoning on this one.
And I hope everything goes well between Thorfire and you, OL. I can only see good things coming out of this partnership!!!
