Thrunite Archer Pro S

The Thrunite Archer Pro S is a new updated compact flashlight from Thrunite. The Archer Pro S provides some subtle styling upgrades from the regular Archer Pro V2. The Archer Pro S emitter is a domeless cool white emitter and is rated for 1400 lumens on turbo mode. The beam profile is one large hotspot with usable spill. The hotspot is very crisp around the edges and is centered in a smooth reflector. The Archer Pro V2 used a TIR lens compared to a reflector found in this model. Given that this is a domeless emitter, there is no tint shift or green in the beam and is a very clean white. Included in the package is a USB-C cable, pocket clip, and user manual.

The light is rechargeable via the included USB-C cable. One feature I really appreciate is the charging port is accessed by unscrewing the head to reveal the port. This is an upgrade from the rubber charging flaps as this helps improve water protection. There is now a small blue battery indicator found in the head that is illuminated while the light is on. The rear switch button is aluminum with very little travel. The switch is a little slippery but provides a satisfying click. The switch has a small flat spot so it can be stood upright but is unstable. The Archer Pro S features updated knurling on the head and body. There are small holes milled into the head which are very subtle. The pocket clip is thin and could provide a larger shoulder to fit over the lip of jean pockets.

The UI is very simple as its a ramping user interface. A single press turns the light onto the last used mode. When in ramping, holding down the switch will slowly ramp to a higher or lower brightness. A double click from on or off will activate the turbo mode. A triple click will activate strobe. You can activate lock out mode if you hold the switch when in moonlight mode, another hold when off will unlock the light. The high mode (infinity high) is rated for 673 lumens with a runtime of 90 minutes. Infinity low is rated at 15 lumens for 27 hours.

The Thrunite Archer Pro S is a simple, compact, small light for those interested in an EDC light for daily needs.

Things I like:

  • USB-C port protected by unscrewing head
  • Clean crisp hotspot

Things I don’t like:

  • Internal battery (I would prefer a replaceable battery)
  • Ramping is too slow
