Thrunite TN36 NW vs TN36 CW

Caught flashlight bug… lucky I am cured of the L disease. Hope it doesn’t come back.

Bought 2 x TN36, one cool white and one neutral white.

Cool white came from Amazon and the box is labeled cool white and has a white sticker on the top right corner.
Neutral white came from hkequipment, there is no label and no sticker on the box.

Both lights do not have anything to distinguish from each other other than the serial number.

Can you tell the difference between the CW and NW?
The left (NW) is slightly warmer than the right but not by much… almost within the tolerance of the same type of die.
It looks like both are CW…. Or did I get a warmer CW version and a cooler NW version?

Taken with a 1D X, 24-70 II, daylight white balance on all photos at different exposure settings.
Left is NW, right is CW.

Somehow the photos look green under daylight white balance.

The photo below is under auto white balance which looks close to what I see and you can tell the left is slightly warmer.

I’m waiting for my CW from THRUNITE to arrive. BTW, I thought CW is supposed to be whiter? I’ve the MM15 but its NW which is slightly yellowish.

It’s hard to get LED beams to show the true color. It’s just for comparison.
The yellow is most likely the color of my room walls (Yellow).

TN36 CW is actually pure white, no blue or yellow that I can tell. Just white.

Why is it there’s no white TN36 marking on your CW light?

There are no distinguishing marks between the CW and NW.
Just talked to the vendor hkequipment, was told that the CW was sent out by mistake so both are CW.

The CW on the left has lower output than the CW on the right.

Just Wondering… how much did you paid for yours from Amazon?

They are of the same tint. Wheter it is cool or neutral, it is hard to tell from pictures, but they are the same kind of white for sure.

The difference between a CW (1A) and NW (3C) emitter is NOT subtle when comparing side by side

You can even tell just by looking at the colour of the phosphor layer on the emitters, warmer emitters will have a much more orangey look compared with the yellowish green of a typical cool white emitter.

What you’re seeing here is likely just a difference in tint between emitters within the same bin. Those smaller differences can also be rather noticeable when comparing side by side.
