Tiablo ACE-G "flickering"

Hi,

I bought a Tiablo ACE.G from IS on their recent garage sale.

I put a newly-charged 18650 into it, but when I do a full-click to turn it on, it’s kind of dim, and flickering.

From their website, it seems like that flickering indicates a low-battery condition, but the battery is fully charged and at ~4.2 volts.

Anyone know what might be causing this?

I also got an upgrade kit, with a new light module and reflector, but I can’t get the current light module separated from the body/tube :(… This is the 2nd time something like this has happened to me in the last couple of days.

Anyone have any ideas how to separate those two parts?

Also, it looks like this light is only a single mode? Is that correct?

Finally, has anyone done any mods to this light?

Thanks,
Jim

P.S. I posted earlier, but I don’t see that, so hopefully this post is not a duplicate :)!

Hi,

From the Tiablo page, it looks like that flickering is a low-battery warning, and the ACE.G is a 1-mode light.

I’m still not able to remove the light module from the battery tube. I’m currently trying alternating freezer time and heat, but so far no success. I’m kicking myself for not buying that remover chemical now :(!!

The good news: Well, I finally got the light module out of the head. It took a couple of freeze-heat over stove (yes, over a gas stove) cycles, and then finally a vise grip. I didn’t have any leather sitting around, so I used the bubble envelope that one of the lights came in to cushion the vice grip, and a nitrile glove and twisted, and it moved.

The bad news: The light module from the upgrade kit that I bought of the IS garage sale doesn’t fit the ACE.G :(, so all of that work was for naught :(…

Edit: I forgot to mention: I eventually used 2 16340 batteries instead of an 18650, and the flickering is gone. This light is rated from 2.7v to 18v, so that wouldn’t be a problem.
