Time for government to walk the walk

They keep telling us WE need to save energy, even so much as banning incandescent lights and forcing us to go to more “energy efficient” lighting

Time for them to start walking the walk!

Cree $99 LED streetlight could come to a city near you
Yeah it’s an old writeup, but I figure as the report says with a 1 year payback on energy saving…they should be on this like crazy

A year from the time its active? By the time they rolled them out, thats likely to be someone elses budget bonanza. Why would a politician implement an idea that makes his sucesor look more successful than he/she? Crazy talk. However at $99, Im guessing they wont be changing too many blown bulbs with bulbs from now on though.

And now we wait for the 4000+ lumen led to be the next mod of one of you mad professors.

Well considering some municipalities are looking for ways to squeeze money from their constituents…this would be a true “long term” money saving payoff…it would just take a year to start seeing it pay back

I was being somewhat facetious and a lot cynical.

Lots of big cities have already done big LED streetlight conversion projects.

This link has been posted before.

We've discussed streetlights before. I think I gave some examples of cities that have already converted some of their streetlights to LED.

Anyone up for a group buy?

Fair enough

sweet…thanks

i wonder what Cree Emiters they using in the XSP street lights.

More info available here about who actually makes it, plus some cities with LED street lights.

Some reports here.
