Wow, okay, I did not realize I caused so much offense. I offer my apologies to those I have upset.
I did not intend the joke to be misogynistic. The gender of the spouse is irrelevant, IMO. It was really just a play on words, and also intended to be a light-hearted poke at marriage in general.
(Yes, I know if I have to explain a joke, it’s not funny.)
I understand some people are sensitive about jokes on certain topics. But, I admit I didn’t realize that comment would cause such offense.
Anyway, I get it, and in the future I’ll refrain from such comments.
My D4 from Hank turned up after 2 weeks, no extra charges. Great little light for the money, but don’t think it will get that much use.
Only complaint I could have was that I ordered a Grey one and got a Cyan one. Don’t know what it is with me and ordering grey lights, dosn’t matter which supplier it is ordered from or make of light, I have never had a grey light actually turn up after ordering one I always get the light in black or some other colour. must be time to give up on ordering grey lights!
The D4 makes roughly 3000-ish to 5000-ish lumens, and ~10,000 to ~25,000 candelas (lux).
The Eye of Sekhmet comes in a few flavors. One optimizes for lumens and is rated to emit ~2000. I suspect that’s emitter lumens though, not out-the-front lumens, so it’s probably a bit lower in practice. This variety would have ceiling-bounce brightness about half as bright as a D4.
Another Sekhmet flavor optimizes for lux and is rated at 260,000 candelas. This is what it’s most known for — putting out a very thin but intense laser-like beam. At any distance beyond a couple meters, the Eye’s hotspot should appear far brighter than the D4… but also much much smaller.
TL;DR: The D4 is a flooder, and the Eye of Sekhmet is a thrower. They’re not really comparable. It’s a bit like asking which hurts more — getting sat on by an elephant or getting shot by a bullet.
It seems like this happens far more often than it should upon reading other comments. It’s not that difficult to double-check model and color. You seem very forgiving. I would probably be a lot more upset if I spent $40 and didn’t get exactly what I paid for. Then again, we’re in a culture that allows us to return basically anything, any time.
I’m waiting on three (D4, D1, and D1S), so my fingers are crossed that I get the right ones in the right colors. Or, at least if they do make an error, please let it be that they sent four.
Please don’t. It’s no more fine for women to make men guilty about things they haven’t done than it is fine for men to actually do or say things that harm women. It’s harmful both ways. Guys have feelings too, you know.
hi guys, i bought d4 but it appeared to use only unprotected batteries, at the same time i got no response from Hank after shipping for two weeks, so paypal refunded money and i have got a question now: what is the best safe-for-user batteries for d4 emisar, and should i wait to get my hands on them to put into lights and check they work properly, or just send money again? will i get problems with seller (silence again) if the lights would not work properly? he answers now, but i am afraid it is just until the deal is done. thanks!
I got my D4 219C Cyan from Hank today, with the 18350 body/clip and I’m running the Sony VTC-5As and the Aspire 1100mAh 18350s, which I bought previously.
Wow that’s fast! I ordered my D4 on Dec 08 from https://intl-outdoor.com/ but haven’t heard back. It’s been just over a month already. I hope it will ship soon.
I intend to order a cyan one xp-l HI 5D, if that’s what you got i’ll gladly take it off your hands full price + shipping if you wanted to try your chance at a grey one again.
Hello everyone,
I’m curious why it seems to take so long for some people in the US to get these lights.
I have 2 of them from Mountain Electronics, and both times that I ordered them it took
less than a week to receive them.
They’re coming from China and for me, at least, there was no shipping costs added by International-Outdoors and Hank.
I can’t complain over 20 days. I’ve done 5, or 6, deals with Asian vendors and it’s usually about three weeks. All were ‘free’ shipping all went lickety-split.
Yes, we have 3 or 4 lights that we purchased from China and it took 3-4 weeks to receive them
which seems to be the norm. I’m very happy with Mountain Electronics because they are always fast for me.
Sometimes you gotta wait for them to get the good stuff like D4’s and meteors, but they seem to be a good place
to shop
I’ve done a few deals with Richard and he’s been top notch, as when the first batch of Xtar VP2 chargers came in using brittle plastic. I was one who got the earlier recalled version.
He just didn’t have a cyan D4 with Nichia LEDs, or the cyan 18350 tube, which are what I wanted.
Quick question for D4 owners,
I’m using the Efest imr 18350 700mAh for my short tube.
Is that battery satisfactory or should I be using the Aspire
that people seem to be recommending, or something else?
Is there any difference besides the capacities?
thanks
