tmart points - why bother?

I don’t pay much attention to my tmart account… but today I logged in and saw I had nearly 3000 tmart points (equal to $30 off).

So I started browsing. After about 10 minutes I added 4 soshine 4200mah 26650s to my cart from the USA warehouse and went to the checkout.

Turns out they only were going to allow me to use my tmart points for up to a measly 10% discount. I added some more items just to make sure it wasn’t the batteries themselves causing this, and I arrived at the same 10% again.

Whats the point of tmart points? Seems useless to me, other than maybe a small discount….

It's best to use them with each order. As you found out, it doesn't pay to save them up.

If you could, find something already at a great price (like, on sale), then get a BLF code (don’t know if tmart does that) then get 10 percent off. Buy enough of them to make up your $30 and make out like a bandit!

Edit: Here’s some math. If you found something on sale with a 15% markdown, and you got a 5% BLF code, and used your whole $30 worth of points. The cost after markdown and BLF code would have to be $300 to make your $30 equal to a 10% reduction. If the item(s) was(were) $300 after BLF code of 5, it would have to equal $315.79 before that. If that price was after a 15% reduction, it would have started at a price of$371.52. The total savings after all those reductions would be ~$101.52 which would be significant! IMHO, that discount-on-top-of-discount method is gonna be the only way to make your 10 reduction worth using. The more the initial reduction is, the greater your overall savings will be, obviously.

both good points! thanks.

I havent made an order in quite some time - and they screwed up my last order and offered to give me 1200 tmart points as compensation… I thought it was like 12$ store credit… .WRONG… its more like 12$ off a purchase of 120$.
