I had a similar experience on AliExpress a while back. I bought a TrustFire Z6 that was supposed to come with a green XM-L and they sent me one with a silver XM-L. Another victim of the old bait and switch scam. 
Moonlighting Septic Superhero, that would let you use your flashlight collection. Best of both worlds, combining the fulfillment of helping people with their necessities while exercising the hobby…you could even downgrade to XM-L T6’s for the floody aspect of seeing the entire tank under sub-performing power levels.
My neighbor is a cop of 26 years. I can’t begin to imagine dealing with family disturbances, drunk drivers, paperwork, wearing a bullet proof vest forever and never getting shot at (ideally) What a horrible job! Makes SuperSepticMan sound glamorous! But hey, he gets to carry an issue Streamline that sucks, gotta be something fulfilling in that right there, new tech computer in the car with old school incan on the belt.
My Brother-in-law is a new trooper, and they gave him a crappy incan Streamlight scorpion. He replaced it with the LED version, but it’s still mediocre. There’s only so much you can do with cr123’s
But you’re right, If I want to see the entire inside of the tank I’m gonna need an XML T6. The pencil-beam XML2 isn’t going to cut it.

This is about the big anonymous drop-sellers and web sellers whose staff never see or understand what they’re selling.
We almost never communicate directly with anyone out there in the big commercial world who actually builds what we want.
I’d like to thank the people out there far away in the world who actually put their hands on the parts and put them together.
It’s not their fault what the intermediaries did with them before they landed in my mailbox.
Often, it’s the people in between who screw up and don’t know what they’re selling.

Frick wow!! This was a chore to read!! OP, You came in here pissed off and unreasonable. All the shit you’re getting is well deserved. You complain about bad customer service but you as the customer is behaving like a scammer trying to get a free light. You insisted that the LED you got is not an XM-L yet, you show us your ignorance by saying that you prefer an XM-L over an XM-L2.
My first assumption is that you’re just ‘wrong and strong’ and think that bitching and complaining will get you what you want. If you want better customer service, pay double the price and buy local. simple.
Regardless of my impression of you, I do believe that that LED is not an XML or an XML2 and that the ‘centering ring’ others are telling you to pull off might actually be part of the LED or removing it can damage the LED leaving you with a non-working P.O.S. This is just my opinion.
My second assumption is that you’re simply a troll looking for attention.
I doubt the plastic piece can be part of the led - they wouldn’t be able to reflow it on a star this way.

Trust me it’s nothing special, my XML’s are 10x as bright.
