I was poking around the local Radio Shack today and found an interesting lumidome magnifier that looked to be an aspheric lens.It was on clearance for like $6,so I figured why not. It's an acrylic lens and meeasures about 74mmX44mm tall(sku 63-193 for those interested)and the downside is two sides are flat and there is a frosted ring effect on the back as seen in the pics.I got it home and it fits theTN-31perfect and produces a super thin laser-like beam.I think the problem is that the bfl is too far from the emitter and any distance shot is horribly dim.The lens will not sit down inside the head far enough so focus is not pos
sible. The beam is very bright close to the dome as you can see in the pictures, but diverges too close to be useful.Big fat fail with this one but I'm not done with it yet, might try it in another application.Focal length is important and it's too bad it didn't work cause it fit pretty well.Back to the drawing board....
Nice, in the past I have played around with those things. Pretty hard to find a light that they work in though, the focal length is really short IIRC.
Yeah it is,I couldn't resist a sale or a cool lens.Worse comes to worse I'll sit outside and burn ants with it,lol.
LOL Making lemonaide outta lemons!
