Personally. I don't see why this little light doesn't get more love. It's barely the size of your thumb, weighs nearly nothing, an goes completely unnoticed clipped to a pocket. I've had mine for almost two years and still think it is awesome. This was the very first "budget" light I ever purchased. Between Brian's great customer service and the tremendous value the light represented in my hand, the budget hook had been set. You'll be happy for sure.
x2!! I bought this light 3-4 years ago form DX, shiningbeam version is better though. I am guessing its not popular because its a twisty. Most folks prefer click switches.
My apologies viktori, I bought the last two this afternoon. 5 seconds after purchasing, I went back to glance at the light's width and the link was already defunct! Interesting code. I wonder if items disappear like that whenever inventory reaches zero (an earlier post implied as much), or if that happened because this was a clearance item. I've seen this light a few other places but can't recall if it was NW. Anyway, I got a personal email i short order, and the lights already appear to be underway!
_the_ (and E1320), thanks for the tip. The clearance price enticed me into buying a couple of RC-C3s. Then I glanced at the I-mini I've had an eye on, and noticed a budget edition for $28 - our discount. Even though part of the charm of the I-mini was that you could use it with so many kinds of batteries, and the budget edition lacks the extension tube, still, realistically, after a few minutes of tinkering I would probably rarely use it with anything other than a 16500. It's supposed to be the stubby light I keep in the geocaching bag just in case. The variable output sure looks enticing - especially at this price point.
Mine was my first LED also, it's a great little light I EDCed it for a while now it sits on the nightstand and gets used almost every night. Pretty simple unbreakable light and the 5C is a really nice tint, you guys got it for a great price also.
I know people love Solarforce lights, but honestly, I'm just as happy with cheaper hosts like Ultrafire 504B (prefer silver version) or the Skyray R5. It's basically a switch and a shell. I really wonder what value you get from a L2P (which I have) or L2T (which I don't) compared to the less expensive L2.
I really like the Tank007 E09. Unless you need the clip, I wouldn't even recommend the iTP A3 (now Olight i3) over it, unless you just don't mind spending a little extra.
Uniquefire UF-2100 with a XM-L is an inexpensive pocket rocket on 18650.
Maybe something in stainless like the Trustfire XP-E F23 or Ultrafire C3. Both are less than $15 and look more expensive.
Definitely a C8. I don't have the KD C8, but people seem to like it. That's about as big a light as I want to carry and it isn't that much bigger than a P60.
Try to find a AA-powered XP-G light. Maybe the Trustfire R5-A3. Not as power hungry as the XM-L lights, but still plenty bright.
I'm not a fan of flood-to-throw lights, but the Sipik SK68 is so cheap, and so many people like it, that you might as well get one. You can always give it away and someone will love it.
Before you buy more than 3 lights, you owe it to yourself to try out some neutral tint lights. They're not easy to find in budget form, but enough people wind up loving neutral lights that all of their cool white lights seem inferior. If you can use a soldering iron, you can make your own by adding neutral LED's to the lights listed above, though that makes some of them expensive hosts. Beats throwing them away because you hate cool tints though.
