Tritium slot without milling

Someone may have already thought of this, but why not make a tritium vial slot in a standard frame out of metal, plastic or even 3D printed. It could be applied to any flat surface with epoxy and would be a lot easier and cheaper than milling. Pics show possible shape.

I thought the whole point of milling a slot was so the tritium is flush with the surface…?

I think for the end of tailcaps, a thin disc the same diameter of the tailcap, maybe with a nice chamfered edge, and tritium slots would work well though, and adds 2mm to total length of the light.

This used to exist. I bought one in 2007. It was a clear plastic (polycarbonate) disk, about the same size as your picture, that contained a green 1.5 x 5 mm vial. It had a good adhesive under it. I used to have it on a twisty 18650 light that was called ‘‘The Sergeant’’.

Gosh I’m getting old…

Hank offers some of his lights with trit slots, he no longer installs trits themselves,

Happens to all of us. I have had no problem getting the tritium vials, I just can’t believe with all the gun/knife/flashlight guys out there that a mounting system appears not to exist.

Really? I’ve never seen the option, is this one of the secret Hank options?

I’m only interested in aluminium lights, maybe he doesn’t offer it on those…

YES, very secret option, lol
Seems like he offers it on tail eswitch lights, kr4 and kr1. possibly others, but i did not check. these 2 i know for sure,
tailcap options, drop down menu, with trit slot, and without.
i got my kr4 in 2020 with the trit installed, but its no longer offered, only a slot in some lights

Ah that’s the other reason I didn’t see it, prefer side switch setups, I’ve never even looked at his tail clicky offerings!
