I'm not generally a fan of variable focus lights but the first one listed is interesting.
Since neither of those two lights indicates how hard it's being driven there is no way to know which is brighter other than to read reviews.
The are both using the same emitter and have a similar diameter head (which would effect throw).
If the Manafont C8 is driven half as hard as the KD version it would be roughly half as bright (it would be a little brighter than that actually). It would have a runtime twice as long however.
I guess most of it depends on what you are looking for.
I was mainly looking at a powerful, yet compact light that combines a decent throw and spill. I was going for the UF/TF C8 but then today i saw that information about the current at HI, so I was going to go for the KD version which is thoroughly reviewed. But now i saw a zoomable light, a unknown concept to me. But what I think is that from a zoomable light the zoom function only gets used in HI mode and could be a b**** for the other modes. But as I say I'm not familiar with the concept. Also I don't know what to expect of the high mode (as it's not the stated 850 lumen which the KD C8 is). I saw some beamshots:
I really like my T9. It has actually became my go to light around the house. It has an extremely solid feel to it too. It is actually smaller than I thought. My only other variable focus light is the X2000 and in the throw department the two are pretty close. However the flood of the T9 completely blows it away. I "think" the T9 is driven at 2.8A.
its a trustfire i wont be disapointed if i get 2 amp draw on my trustfire flames it will be better then the kd c8 so i will be happy my other trustfires are better finshed then the kd c8 i got and dont have a green tint like the kd c8.
worse case it will draw the same as the kd c8 i had to spend alot of time on to fix, but it will look better and be the same price, the wifes claimed it as hers already and its not here yet, but i guess ill have to wait till it gets here and see if its any good, ill let you know.
im hoping for 2 amp with trustfire flames batteries but if i get 1.5 amp with no green tail cap button and no green tint with a smooth reflector ill be happy it just look heaps better.
its going to be my wifes torch but ill let you guys know how it goes when it gets here, if it dont work at all i have a new direct drive 5 mode driver from kd for a kd c8
I retested mine with xtar 18700. KDC8 2.8A TF C8 2.5 ? Strange as I was only getting 1.8 last week.
Kd c8 has a wider hot spot (op). Tf C8 is tighter (smo). But the lens is loose and I had to screw pill towards the head to stop the rattle.
I tried with another 18700. Got 2.45 a for both. A lot does depend on the battery. I got high 3 's on TF Flames before on my KD. Time to switch reflectors
same rattle. The fault lies with the shape of the smo reflector
My kd c8 now has a stainless bezel! Both great lights.
mine has no rattle does yours have a o-ring inbetween the bezel and glass mine does no rattle with every thing tight.
the driver on my Trustfire C8 Stainless Steel Head is the same as the kd c8 so it should drive like the kd c8 mine draws a little better then my kd c8 with tust fire flames but the switch has a nicer feel and the beam is better on the trustfire c8 due to the smooth reflector it also has a better tint then the kd c8.
the kd c8 has a brass pill it takes longer to heat up but holds its heat, the trustfire c8 has an alloy pill heats up quick cools down quick and alloy is normaly good for dispursing heat.
I like T9 over C8 by far, mine throws quite more than X2000 standard, I replaced the lens by the X2000 big head from Ultraok (same diameter but better quality, not fuzzy).
both of mine have the o ring. Also my kd c8 has an alloy pill. You will find the pill is not screwed down tight towards the tail end. When I screw mine down it rattles. If I screw it out a bit it stops. Was rattling when I first got it. My tints look the same. I tried the smo reflector in the kdc8 and got the rattle.
