You can ask the seller whether the emitter bin ,the circuit board ,the tailcap are of the same quality and these are the most important thing .If they are the same ,the left is to choose the appearance you like. ![]()
For me I like the style of trustfire better ![]()
Well, if ultrafire doesnt exist, ultrafire-shop.net must be a conspiracy.
I’ve often wondered what the “hwa/wys” logo means, I’ve seen it on different brands.
http://flashlightwiki.com/UltraFire
If I remember correctly, the hwa/hws refers to the actual factory (or two) where the products were produced.
A lot of investigation has bee done prior: UF
Interesting stuff, to say the least. But I still contend that I dig my UF torches, where ever they came from.
Roughly 50% of my ultrafire lights were bad, and needed some DIY work to get them running reliably. Solder re-flow, grinding stuff down, stretching springs etc.
Trustfire I am 0/3. An old MCE P60 host had a buggy switch with poorly molded plastic parts. I had to trim the extra plastic. My Trustfire Z1 was DOA. My TR-J12 melted its +B spring.
I have both brands in my collection but I don’t think either is a quality brand as a whole. They do have some GREAT designs though… but they (as whole companies) fall flat when it comes to QC.
I like the model 503B Ultrafire Stainless Steel, it is always an imitation of the Solarforce L2 Special Edition SS but is well done, I have two 503b SS.

Just read the cpf (shudder) link.
It was interesting but the thing that really came through is that dm51 is the sort of person I would like to spend a few days with, locked in a room, with him strapped to a chair and me holding a bat……
Yes. He needs to be stepped down several notches.
In the very beginning when I first started to do some searches for flashlight info, I had signed up on CPF and asked a couple questions. Immediately afterward, my attitude changed to “eff that place”.
Members rude, Nazi moderators, stupid ’security” measures. Egos are lame.
I don’t rant much, but I guess I had to say it - mostly because I linked a thread from there. Sorry folks. ![]()
IIRC MAXToch makes most of the stuff to varying quality levels as specified by the buyer who then rebrands it.
http://www.maxtoch.com/products-mainmenu-64.html?category_id=&page=shop.browse&limit=50&limitstart=0
I’d like to get my hands on a real MAXToch and compare it to the Trustfire/Ultrafire equivalents.
Someone’s just reviewed a maxtoch. No sorry, I found a maxtoch review in the 18650 section, think it was an unbranded stl-v6.
Seemed a good quality light, just completely unbranded.
Yeah, after further reading it appears that the Trustfires, Ultrafires Fandyfires etc are made by MAXToch, the difference appears to be if Trustfire wants a cheaper one, they put in cheaper components for them to rebrand.
Looks like theirs are built to the top spec before they get bid down in price, definitely going to have to locate one of these.
I haven’t got any ultra fires but my trust fires are great.
I have 12 tf flames and they work great, a 3t6 and a tr1200. The 3t6 came in mint condition and then tr1200 was a bit chipped. However after dropping it several times I’ve come to the conclusion that my trust fires are pretty good.
Where did you buy the TF’s and which ones do you have?
Trustfire series TR-3T6 and J18 lights and 26650 batteries I’ve found to be stable and reliable. They exaggerate about lumen output and capacity, but I’ve used them least several x to nightly use per week (4 different lights) for months with no drop in quality like UltraLiarLiarPantsOnFire have. Trustfire 26650 appear to be near the top of 26650 capacities on the market. I’d use protected cells, charge the cells equally, watch for any dimming earlier than usual or overheating on use and test with your multimeter off the charger whenever possible to match cells voltages (all just precautions with any Li-ions). Ultrafire lights may be OK, I dont really know, but the batteries… run!
Now, people are going to confuse you with their theories about who does or doesn’t really exist, and it is confusing because of several issues. They appear to be actual Chinese companies from what I can tell, but many other companies use at least Ultrafire’s name (with/without permission? Who knows). As best I can tell Surefire company being known spurred the Chinese companies to copy with first Ultrafire, Trustfire, and then who knows I cant tell: Tangs/Mars/Uranus/Unique/Prairie/WhateverUltra(LiarLiarPantsOn)Fire. And then there is additionally a further problem at least with Ultrafire batteries which is: there are places that manufacture just the Ultrafire “official” wrappers that allow you to wrap ANY battery and sell it as “Ultrafire”. I’ve seen other batteries clearly marked as lower capacity wrapped as Ultrafire, and wrong size batteries with junk in them wrapped as “Ultrafire” pictures on the net. This is why I say run from any “Ultrafire” battery, you just cant tell what it actually is, and even if its “good genuine Ultrafire” (you not know for sure), that means you have a cheap battery that exaggerates quality at best…
Trustfire TF-26650 flames that I have gotten appear to try to be trying to counter this “counterfeiting” by adding a reflective holographic sticker on them recently, the older ones had one on their plastic wrap enclosing two batteries.
Ultrafire lights, I dont have as much certainty, and some other Trustfires and 18650 trustfire batteries I dont know. I have a few single cell “Ultrafire” lights that are pretty mediocre, exaggerated and I havent used them much, but I find differences in printing etc, probable different real manufacturers: the copy/counterfeit problem probably exists in lights too for Ultrafire.
Hey where do you buy your trustfire from? What site? I’m looking to pick up some
I dont think we are allowed to post links, and I’ve purchased from all over really, not one site. However, lights are kind of like the batteries: you can find the lights for cheaper at “off name/label” sites, but there is more risk of a “bad” light or copy. I find if the cost difference isn’t too bad, I have had good luck dealing with Amazon because of the great customer service: if it sucks/doesn’t work as advertised you can get your money back without too much hassel… but it usually costs more…so your choice really… I know nothing of them but there were a couple sites mentioned that have a BLF percent off too, maybe someone can direct you to them on another thread.
You can post links all you want.
I have a fiew of both names, but the Trustfires i have seem to be more refined in quanlity. ( i have a X6, Z5, Z2, S-A1, etc. and all of them work superbly.) Trustfire seems to have a more legitimate website too. > > here: http://www.trustfire.com/
Alright thanks a lot! ill look into it.
