I am narrowing down my next purchase and there are two similar versions of the same basic flashlight. One is TrustFire and the Other is UltraFire. The prices are rather close and both are available from the same seller.
Does anyone have any positive or negative feedback about either of these brands?
They probably come from the same production line... which stamp do you like better? They are the mass market producer/reseller. You would have to name the exact models to get any useful feedback. I have flashlights that are great and some which are horrible machined of both brands....quality consistency is not their strong suit. ( or there are too many fakes out there ... who knows)
Maybe are different distributors, btw on my experience both do good lights(maybe ultrafire sell more things of better quality like the dropin etc) both do mid level lights but just ultrafire brand sometime do junks or is more common to have bad tailcap or little issue, is also true that ultrafire sell much more different models and more flashlight at end so more probability of issue.
conclusion will be a roulette if you can't find any feedback take the cheaper xD
just avoid ultrafire batteries, is not worth imo, take trustfire flames instead(and as ever say kreisler: I don't care if are fakes or not if haven't the hologram are fakes xD)
I depends on the model, and there are known Ultrafire fakes out there, but I don't know of any Trustfire fakes. If is from Manafont or DX, the Ultrafire is probably the real thing.
Without a doubt. The Ultrafire batteries are a joke. At least the red and gray ones. I know the threads on some Ultrafire flashlights suck. Trustfire gives you better threads for the most part from what I have seen and I believe a better finish as well or anodizing.
The built quality of the 10440's is better with the Ultrafire brand than with the Trustfire brand. I've documented the difference in built quality (and its relevance) in a dedicated thread. The difference is subtle but relevant/important.
I can highly recommend the Protected grey Ultrafire 10440's. I've been doing extensive testing on these cells and they perform great ( see my runtime and amperage measurements in fran82's iTP A3 review thread and in my Tank E09 review thread ).
When it comes to 14500's, i prefer the Trustfire flames .. because that's what HKE recommends when you ask them.
generally there are less trustfire fakes out there . like vectrex said ,depends on the model .
Seems to me DX used to sell the real ones first and when there was some excitement and the sales increased then they dumped the fakes on the masses .At least that's the way it seemed to be to me .So waiting for reviews that are good meant you were sure to get a bad light .
Extra knowledge of the ‘*fire’ flashlight
1:There are many ’fire’(Here is variable stands for a word) brands in China such as Ultrafire,Uniquefire,Trustfire,Supfire,Superfire etc. Their quality and price are quite different and uncertain. Some have very good quality, while some other may are poorly-made.
2:‘Ultrafire’ is NOT a registered brand, it’s shared brand. Many companies launch their own ‘Ultrafire’ flashlights which adds the uncertainties.

After a couple months of flashlight addiction, I will tell you this: I don’t trust any of the xxxfire brand names as a standard. That being said, I LOVE my UltraFire branded wf-502b, 502a, C1, and Sipik clone. I have only ONE TrustFire torch, and that’s the Mini-01, and if you don’t have one, you need one. It is phenomenal. I have a TF Z8 on the way, and I really like the reviews on those things. Also, most of my batteries are protected TrustFire Flames from Manafont, 18650, 18350, 14500, 16340, and now 26650s on the way, and I have been very happy with them, and the reviews from way more experienced users have been decent to good.
I have at least one UltraFire-branded torch that is a clone of a TrustFire version that is a very nice budget performer. So I guess I can say that while I don’t trust that the stuff we get branded by either name is authentic in some way - I have not been disappointed by either brand as of yet.
Once I got into SolarForce stuff, my 502B and 501A, and C1 seemed way more like budget-quality light bodies to me. I cannot say enough about the quality of the SF hosts compared to UF and TF branded lights.
Again… it all comes down to the specific lights and there reviews here on BLF. My UF HD2010 is simply awesome, even with its flaws.
