Trustfire tr-j18 problem

Hi Im Cameron, I’m new to this website,

I have recently just brought a trustfire tr-j18 from lightmalls.com and I put the batteries in and I click it on, it works fine half click it in and it changes but when It gets to strobe setting it flashes off and it just keeps flashing after that. And it won’t work I can’t get to full beam unless I spend about 5mins clicking it until it finally decides to switch on. It’s driving me crazy haha.

Thanks heaps for reading and I hope someone knows what’s wrong

welcome to the forums.
How old is the light, did you just receive it?

Yes I just received it

Hello welcome  with which battery?

Hello. It is an 18650 3 of them

Ok of course 18650…. Which brand? What capacity?

Sorry it could have taken 26650 that’s way I said that. I has nitecore 2600mah

'TR-J18' and 'problem' seem to crop up together quite often, don't they?

I’m not sure. I brought it thinking it was a good buy. Do you know how to fix it?

Sorry did not know accepting 26650….Tried with other batteries?
This flashlight require batteries which can deliver good current.

Also make sure the + end of your cells stick up enough to make good contact with the rear of the cell in front of it, flat tops sometimes have trouble when used in series that they don't have when used in single cell lights.

With the tailcap removed, jump the end of the last cell to a non-anodized part of the tube, see if it works more reliably without the switch in the circuit.

Iv tried it. Still goes doing that. But with switch it doesn’t

Sounds like you got a light with a bum switch, time for an rma

Hey lol hows it going? I’m from Christchurch hbu?

My guess the 18650 batteries that you’re using is protected? some multi emitter lights that I have have some kind of problem similar like yours when I use protected batteries.
try switch to KK 26650 batteries and see if it’s work ( it works fine for me  )

Thank you. What is kk?

King kong

Awesome thanks so UN protected kk?

my KingKong is unprotected… just make sure they all have the same voltage when you’re using them in series

had to use button top KK in mine, unprotected flat tops don’t work in series.
