【TS10 Max】TS10 Max available now on wurkkos brand day with dark blue oxidize

Was a 3500mAh battery.

Turbo Test was with molicel P30B.

Mode F6 Test was with LG MJ1. Max Output with this Battery: 2.380 Lumens.

I don’t think it does us any good to jump to conclusions about driver efficiency without some serious testing. If a buck driver would give is twice the runtime then we’re saying this driver is less than 50% efficient? I think that’s a bold statement.

FET is pretty much heavily overdriving LEDs, and turning them on and off quickly. The driver itself is nearly 100% efficient, but the LEDs are running very inefficiently, and the internal resistance of the cell generates a lot of losses, too.

I doubt it is half the eff of a buck, but it is a big difference.

Maybe I missed it here - do we know how this driver works on the Max? Does it use any 7135 like the regular TS10?

AFAIK this first-batch version of the TS10 Max is 7135+FET, like a regular TS10 or a TS21.

They probably couldn’t get the buck driver ready in time for brand day, and released it with a known-good driver instead of releasing it with a buck driver that wasn’t done yet

Thanks, I see the Wurkkos account mentioned that some posts above.

So it the question on regulation comes down to which output levels use the 7135. From what I’ve gathered here on BLF about drivers, a 7135 might be say 70% efficient at max battery voltage and increasing in efficiency as voltage drops and nears the Vf of the leds. If output is set above the level at which the 7135 is used, it will be less efficent (pwm’ed fet). (Anyone please correct me if I’m wrong, I’m trying to learn more about drivers).

A buck driver would be better, no doubt, but I don’t think by a huge margin. I’m going to keep enjoying this light for what it is

Yup. One of those is IIRC 350 mA, which equals ~100lm with a 519A. In that range it should be 70% worst case efficiency. Above it… No idea. A lot less? But I can’t just quantity how inefficient a FET is, one would have to measure.

Here’s a pic of the driver out of my TS10 Max:

Thanks! I was just replying that I wished I could see the other side but I wasn’t interested in looking myself.

So that answers the question, just one 7135 chip, right? Thise two others that look similar are something else?

If there’s just one, that’s too bad. Seems like there’s room for more with a little rearranging (maybe easier said than done).

The bottom right one is the 7135, and I believe the other two are mosfets. I’m far from an expert though, so I very well could be wrong.

2 Thanks

Looks like it, yeah. Odd form factor for MOSFETs.

Looks to be a single 7135, and then it has two SOT-89 mosfets (for direct drive)

It probably uses the same firmware as a TS10v2, which would mean it uses “hybrid” drive up from the max 7135-only until turbo, which uses PWM switching between the 7135 and the FET

The TS10 uses them as well, IIRC.

It mightve been done for some supplier reason, instead of the usual 5060 MOSFETs that so many other drivers use.

I’m liking the size of this thing

I’m a huge fan of this blue color ano . I added one of those super fat yellow rubber bands to create a cigar grip and the two colors look great together.

2 Thanks

It seems they did something a bit different either with the surface prep or the anodizing on the max. In dimmer light as in the house it is a pretty standard almost drab matt color. But in the sunlight it has an almost metallic look to it. A bit of sparkle. I like it. I didn’t notice this until I took it out in the sun to take pictures.

Yeah, I think the blue looks great and I’m glad they didn’t just go with black for the initial release. I think the blue would pair nicely with some copper accents like a bezel and maybe something in the clip area. I can feel myself getting closer to a modding rabbit hole with this light…

2 Thanks

I like that deep red and also the titanium body with copper head like they hav on the regular ts10v2

I hope they will make the ts10 max in those colors as well, but I’m still not interested in this light till they come out with the buck driver

I’ll wait

Fair enough. With the buck driver it will be that much better. Sounds like they are working on it. Once that comes out, along with a couple different color options, I’m sure I’ll buy another. I certainly don’t need any more lights but then again I’ve always wanted one with a mao finish…

Is this light compatible with the newer versions of anduril? Or at least the 2023-10 version with soft steps?
