I wondered too when I first read that post. It means absolutely perfect. When I see “dead” when describing a flashlight or other electrical device, no matter of what other words may be present, my mind sees the word “dead” and first thinks “does not work”. It would seem that “dead mint” is a poor expression in this case, IMO.
Of the four I have owned (I recently gifted two), I prefer the Sofirn version with the XPL- HI led’s as it’s a throwing monster and with a light this heavy- it’s all about outdoor spotlight use for me. I kept that version and bought three of the BLF versions over time. I have the Sofirn XPL-HI and BLF Anduril remaining.
I am hoping to see the XHP50.2 version making the rounds on the forum with many successful mods done and 15k+ lumen output. I looked recently on the sofirnlight.com site for that MCPCB that fit’s the XHP-50.2 and it’s not there. Maybe it’s somewhere else. But I’d like to do that mod on the stock driver as it’s been done successfully.
Great light for the truck and for hunting (especially for tracking a deer RIGHT after the “dark-30” shot is made from a blind while it runs 30 yards into 8 ft tall grass- which they do all the time here in Kansas).
Good to know about the xpl hi version as i was wondering which one would be most fun. I also may wait to see if a xhp50 version hits the market, that sounds interesting.
