UltraFire UF2 Review

Hello everyone!

This is my review for the UltraFire UF2, a 21700 form factor zoomie with on board charging and a magnetic tail cap. It comes packaged decently in a matte finish box with a shiny graphic of the light on the box and your standard fare for a basic light. A lanyard, replacement O-ring, and USB cable for charging your light.

Here it is next to a S16 which is a comparable size and weight, build quality overall feels fairly solid.

Threads are smooth and square-ish cut, the O-ring on the tail cap is dry and for sure needs a bit more lube from the factory

Charging port is small and seals up well but with plenty of room to fit a variety of USB-C plugs

The emitter has a round domeless LES which produces a crisp round beam at full zoom.

Charging it pulls roughly 11-12 watts and charges in just a hair over in 4 hours, the battery is listed at 18Wh but charged to 22Wh according to my FNB48S. I did not test the IR of the battery since it comes with a built in protection circuit.

Now for the beam shots, the first beam shots are at a distance of 108m or 355ft on high

Here is a S8 with a 5000k SFT-40 for a reference shot

And zoomed out at 30m or 100ft

The color rendering could be worse but it’s not going to win any awards, but, it does what it needs to do and that’s throw light.

The UI is operated via a side e-switch with a solid feel but no audible feedback.

  • From off it’s a press and hold for .5 seconds to turn on with memory mode always enabled.
  • Strobe is activated from the off state by holding the button for 2 seconds, strobe alternates between fast and slow strobe.
  • Lockout can be activated by double clicking while off, the light will slow blink twice show it is locked out. Turning off lockout is the same, double click from off to turn off lockout mode.
  • The UF2 can be used as an emergency phone charger by clicking 3 times from off, the e-switch will blink 3 times in green to indicate it’s ready to charge. It is important to note that while in this mode the light CANNOT be charged.
  • To return it to charging mode you need to press 3 times again from off, the switch will blink times in red to let you know you’re good to charge the light.

Overall it’s not a horrible light, my main gripe is that the zoom portion of the head is fairly loose and can easily get bumped out of focus. The UI takes a bit to get used to but it’s not nearly as complicated as your standard Anduril 2. The Light throws pretty damn well and the choice of using a round emitter makes this feel a lot better than your usual shamazon 99999 lumen SST-40 zoomie

Thank you for taking the time to read this review, this is my first flashlight review and this light was provided to me for free by UltraFire for an honest review. Any feedback to improve future reviews is more than welcome :ok_hand:

Very nice review of an uncommon light! Build quality and general engineering seems surprisingly good.

This is an artifact not of the emitter but of the convex lens, known as chromatic aberration. It is unavoidable for zoomies regardless of emitter choice.

Too many better lights out there for same money or less.

Thanks for pointing that out, I took off the lens and see what you mean
